Angry Not happy with my metco setup.

I purchased a metco tensioner setup along with an idler 100mm about a month ago.Since then i thought i was hearing detonation from in the cab under a load.It turns out to be the pulleys are wobbling like a drunk fat man and causing the belt to make a chirping noise under load. What a waste of money.I'm gonna be contacting the company i bought them from shortly to see what they will do to resolve it.Has anyone else had this problem.? remember something about the bearings but not 100 percent sure. They have the orange seals. Can i just change the bearings cause i really like the look of the billet?

Did you get the new design or the older setup?

Call Aaron, I had the same problem and they have since updated their bearings to the better ones. They sent me the new bearings and now there is no noise.

I called them about the same thing and they only wanted to sell me bearings for $14 apiece. I will never buy from them again.

I've had the Metco setup for almost 2 years - no problems. Although it's not my daily driver, and I've got the 90mm idlers, so maybe thats make a diffrence. One thing I do though, after reading several posts about bearing problems, is that every time I take it out - before I put him back in his home (garage) - I check the bearings for any sign of wobble.

Look for grease inside the spoke holes and inside the pulley lip. Most fail because ALL the grease inside of the bearing is pushed out past the dust caps. There obviously spinning to fast in the first place.

NTN bearings on ebay that fit our idlers. Good Guy to deal with, already bought a few from him in the past.
I have a bearing collection now!

I've been seeing grease in spokes with 'new' setup also. Thanks for the alert. thought they were overpacked or something. guess it's time for them to come off for a check. also, they are starting to make a slight clicking noise.

used to have the 'old' metco setup that indexed off the supercharger, no problems with that. wonder if different bearings, or if new batch is bad ?

Some have told me the bearings need changing around every 20,000 miles.

if an automotive bearing lasts only that long then there is a basic design flaw.

Re Bearings,
the red ones are the NTN better bearings, the black ones are crap.

When I posted this the day I got mine, everyone told me about the bad Black Bearings, I happen to have got one of each.
I called Terry, he read the post, and sent me out a new Pulley the next day, then returned mine AND EVERY ONE HE HAD IN STOCK with the black Bearings, for the Red Bearings ; o )
