Question Intercooler Recall Kit Question

Long story short... I bought a 99 L with 2500 miles about 5 months ago, and the intercooler was never replaced during the recall. Does anyone have the actual part number for the kit?
Thanks,
Chad

That was so fast. Thank you so much for the info. I wanted to make sure the dealership was looking up the right part.
Thanks again,
Chad

The recall is over, history, done.

You can, however, buy the kit and do it yourself (or have it done). The cost is covered by your own wallet.

Yes, oh yes... I'm doing this out of my own wallet. When I bought the truck, I asked them if it had been done. Of course they said yes. I later called SVT to see if it had been done, and they said no. I tried going back to the dealership, and they played stupid. Big Surprise!!! So now it's getting done before it breaks.
Thanks Guys,
Chad

That's fraud on the part of the dealer. It wouldn't take much for a lawyer to show that they knew (or should have known) about the problem and should have fixed (or disclosed) it to you. It shouldn't really matter if you asked them about it or not. BTW, which dealer was it? Stumpf?

I wouldn't actually get a lawyer since you'd probably end up losing money in the end but if you have one in the family or something, have them call the dealership...

No, not Stumpf's. Les is actually a really good friend to me and my family. I'm not going to say names, but it starts with a "B" and they are huge around here. I'll leave it at that.

hey i know how it feels to be lied to by the dealer, i asked them the same and they said yes.....on the 4hr drive home from the dealer the truck started acting really funny. took it by a friend he checked it out, had anti-freeze comin outta the tail pipes, the anti-freeze container was EMPTY and the truck wouldn't run right. my buddy whose a mechanic told me he thought i blew a head gasket. well i got up at the crack of down the next morning called around found out the inner cooler had NOT been replaced, called the dealership back told them and told them what had happened. i would never believe what i heard next..........quote "WELL ITS UR TRUCK NOW, WE DON"T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT"...if they weren't 4hrs away i would have drove back and beat some a$$...took the blower off inner cooler was so nasty i threw it away, had anti-freeze everywhere mixed with oil. got everything replaced and new, put on a few goodies took it to a dyno and BOOM, i still blaim them in some ways b/c i think that engine was jacked up when i got it. o well i just dropped the new JDM engine in tonight......I HATE DEALERSHIPS....i bought an entire page in the paper and wrote everything that happened and how poorly they treated me, told all of my family in town and i'm sure they some customers outta the deal.......sorry for the long reply but dealerships are BULL*****

Chad, you're a bigger man than I. It would have sent me into orbit if this had happened to me.

Considering the dealer in question is an SVT dealership, there is no excuse for ignorance. Telling you your truck color was "Cardinal Red" is one thing but not knowing and/or lying about the intercooler situation and then not offering some kind of assistance is simply incredible to me.

On the bright side, you got a great truck with super low miles at a decent price. If there is anything I or someone else in the club can do to help you out, let me know.

From: Colorado,
You don't even have to rush to do the replacement.
Most of them did not develop leaks until aprox 18k miles or more.

At any rate it doesn't suddenly make your engine go boom!

If you have the money and are planing on doing a lot of HP mods then you might as well put it at the top of the list but if you just want to enjoy your truck drive it as is and just keep an eye on it you can with peace of mind.

Your coolant level will disapear and you will prolly notice an increase in boost from the normal 8 lbs to off the scale and in the black. Crummy gas may even hear detonation at WOT.

I bought my truck used and had to do the change myself. Took 3 hrs with breaks. Lots of posts on how to. My cost was about $750

I had a 99. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

My 2000 lasted 31,000 miles before it went, must have just been a slight split in the I/C 'cause there was no coolant puddled in the intake plenum. Kerno did most of the work on it for me, he had an extra '02 plenum & I/C sitting on the shelf, so it was just an easy Friday afternoon swap.

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah Chris, I was pretty pissed. I was talking/yelling with them for about 2 weeks straight, every single day, and it got me no where. They said it was only with a select few that were recalled, and that mine wasn't one of them. That was the story after they told me it had been replaced. I talked to everyone under the sun there, and I was getting nowhere fast. I just gave up, I'll pay for it out of my own pocket. My dad works for Stumpf's, and he can get me a killer deal on the kit. I'm looking to port my Eaton, and I wanted to change it out while I have it all apart. Stumpf's might be an SVT dealer as of next year, and all my business is going over there. Thanks in advance for the help Chris. I might be calling on your expertise!!!
Thanks,
Chad
