Interesting magazine article

In the latest issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines, there is an interesting feature story called "Hot trucks and muscle cars go head to head". The editors matched various muscle cars, old and new against muscle trucks. All cars and trucks were completely stock and ran on street tires, no drag radials, either. The 2nd generation lightning was pitted against a 2002 Trans Am WS6. For the Lightning owner it was his first time at the track and he lost 13.83 to 13.03. Other match-ups included an SRT-10 vs. a 2003 Mustang Mach 1, a 1970 El Camino vs. a 1970 Dodge Challenger and several others.

That same magazine also has a story about the future of the Lightning.

Great info, but you failed to answer what everybody wants to know. Did the SRT-10 run beat the L's 13.83????

We need numbers.

BigSVT:
It's one of the magazines I subscribe to; only about 2 years old but usually available at the Wal-mart newstand. I checked and the article is not availble on line.

l-menace:
I don't want to type in the whole article but the Lightning was owned by Josh Morill of Beacon, New York who works at a Chevy dealer. It's a 2001 L which he bought used and, completely stock, he ran 13.83 @ 100.89 on his first time at a track.

The SRT-10 ran 13.18 @ 105.87 to beat the Mach I which ran 13.42 @ 104.48.
