rear crossmember removal

i am talking about the crossmember in the back of the truck.

has anyone removed this? it is the crossmember that holds the spare tire. it also has a holder for the rear driver side shock.

it looks like it might be some sort of sway support also, but i am not sure

if yuo have any info on this topic let me know please.

the reason for the removal is battery relocation. i want my battery below the bed.

Cool

HI!... I removed the *X* crossmember from my truck. Cut it out, rivits and all. Can't tell it was ever there. Made some custom shock brackets. I built my own battery relocation kit about 4-5 years ago. It fits under the bed off the side of the frame.
