built motor miles?

What sort of mileage do any of you guys out there have on your built motors ? Are they as reliable as the standard Lightning motor, or possibley better ?
Do they require a more regular tune up, or once it`s done is that it ?
Any used as dailey drivers and what boost / hp are you running as an everyday thing ?

Thats a really good question. The steel parts like the crank and rods should last virtually forever. High quality forged pistons won't last nearly as long as the stockers, though. Eventually, no matter how expensive the piston and how well the engine is built, you'll need new pistons. The stronger the piston, the shorter its life. Same with bearings, high horsepower will beat the bearings out eventually, regardless of the brand.

Miles and Quarter Miles

I have a JDM built short block that's got 10 K on it along with about 50 passes down the 1320 in the past 2 years. Very durable motor and along with heads and stage 3 cams that Johnny @ JLP installed this past Summer, it's doing a great job of making power. 646 RWHP along with 713 Ft. Lbs. of torque just netted me a 10.75 ET @ 127 MPH at Atco last weekend. ALL THROTTLE, NO BOTTLE. Boost with race setup is about 20 lbs. I guess you could say I have a MUTT MOTOR, but it sure runs great.

I have about 20,000 miles on my JDM built motor and a ton of 1/4 miles on mine. I have had zero problems, it doesn't use any oils, idles perfect. I expect many more trouble free miles on it.
