Not all wrench turners are the same. Depends on if they have done it before and if they have the right tools. A nice shop is always nice too. Some guys might take 4 or 5 hours where others could take 2 days...

I got mine out in 8 hours. I waited 2 months for a motor and installed it in 2 days, worked slowly though. It is easier than it looks.

Good luck

With 4 guy's working on removing the engine and tranny we had it out on the stand in 4 hrs.

To reinstall a new long block and to clean and paint little parts here and there took 12 hrs.

Customer started it and drove it home no adj. needed.

4-5 hours...........damn, that is super human

Anyways it's not a job I would suggest rushing. I did it a few hours a night over a 2 week or so period.

Your going to love the JDM longblock

Depends on howmuch beer is on hand. Not enough.. it will never get done. Too much.....it will never get done. These complicated tasks require extremely fine calculations.

FWIW...

Ford Warranty Time:

Remove and Install Engine: 10.9 hours

Reman Engine Replace (longblock): add 1.6 hours

-or-

Replace Short Block: add 3.9 hours

-also just for infomation's sake-

Replace Cylinder Head Gasket: 3.4(one) 4.2(both)

these times are for one person working alone.

you can also add .9 for reclaiming, evacuating, and recharging the A/C freon if you need to.

So basically Ford says it should only take about 12.5 to 13.4 hours.

Realistically it'll probably be over 20 hours especially if you've never done it before.

It usually takes me about two 8hr work days to replace cylinder head(s) or a complete long block in a Lightning, but I'm usually a slowpoke and get sidetracked easily. I think I have ADD?

but the job can be done faster than that, especially if you have two people working on it. or just one person who is more motivated than me.

but more than two workers and somebody is probably just getting in the way. plus, do you really have enough tools and space for 3 or more people to work at once?

good luck.

later,
chris
