Moroso pan studs

Tuesday I ordered a Moroso transmission pan from Jegs and it arrived today (Thursday). Very smooth transaction, shipped to my door for $167.00. I opened it and it had 20 studs with nuts on them, the studs have allen key slots in them. The only problem is, the instructions did not say how much to tighten the studs before torqueing the nut to 10 ft/lbs. Do I need to torque the studs or just bottom them out in the transmission and then tighten them a little more? Also my torque wrench only reads in/lbs what would be the equilvelant of 10 ft'/lbs? Thank you!

When I put mine on, I just tightened the studs down good'n'tight...worked fine for me so far, no leaks after 14k

10ft lb's = 120in lb's

Whatever you screw into the tranny pan holes, it gets 11 ft/lbs, and there are three of the holes that will strip at 14 ft/lbs almost every time, so be careful.

If I just finger tightnen the studs and then torque the nuts will I be ok? Because if I torque the studs and the nuts want that double the torque that is being applied to the threads?

Many the the threaded holes in the tranny come all the way thru the top. you can thread the stud in by hand and many of the holes it will never stop. I put a very small amount of loctite on the end of my studs threaded them in till they became i could feel them become flush on the top side of the mounting flange. then istalled the pan and torgued the nuts to 11 ft pounds.

Well my torque wrench only reads in/lbs and the only ones for sale that I can find around here start at 20 lbs. So could I just torque it to 132 inch/lbs, or does it not work like that.

Yup ... works like that ...

And torque is a limiter ... not additive ... Kinda like
"no tighter than" when it clicks once ... STOP turning.
