detonation?

Does detonation typically happen only during full-load conditions?

I seem to hear a little bit of a "pebble in a can" sound, but only at low-load situations... especially at highway speeds... during full throttle, I dont hear anything odd except the s/c whining loudly

I don't have many mods--4#, chip, valve body, but when I got dynod recently the a/f peaked at about 10.2, which leads me to believe the a/f meter was incorrect??

Yes it can happen but not if you crusing on flat ground and you give it 1/8 peddle. That little flutter your hearing is normal for all Ls yet no one knows what causes it?
You will know when you getting some knock. It sounds like a LOUD flutter/pinging coming form under your dash area.
I have the part throttle flutter like you and in the past I has some knock. 2 different items.
