toruqe converter
what type of after market converter is the hot ticket that everyone is using out there? my mods are,6lb lower ,ported eaton ,psp fastair 90 mm ,.,thrtle body , bypass 407hp 509tq 11.8 air fuel stock 3.55 rear . hooseir quicktime pros , looking for better of the line 60ft time, whaching clip of my last run ilook very slugish off the line but cought up by mid track. my best time with the mods above 60ft1.880 12.714 at 107.23 1/4 and the hoosiers had 14lbs air felt like they hooked ok . so would a converter help out my launch or gears ?
It depends on how you drive it. Your call name suggests it's a daily driver...? So.... I'd say to go with a 2500 stall and skip the gears. Just keep in mind that a stall will significantly soften the low end "punch".

when i first got the truck it was my daily driver but now i have a daily beater that iuse for work. so your saying a higher stall speed converter will soften the low end punch? i thought just the opposite?
A aftermarket convertor simply slips more than the original one.
It allows the engine rpms to rev higher than the rest of the drivetrain. For example a stock gen 2 will "stall" at about 1600 rpms with the rear tires held still. Most of these aftermarket converters for the Gen2 stall at about 2500rpms under the same "tires held still" condition.
What this does is gets the motor up into it's torque curve quicker.
On a N.A. motor this is usually an awsome mod. But on these Gen 2s it's not really a good bang for the buck because these things make so much torque at that low 1500rpm. It'll only gain you about .1-to-.2 in the 1/4 Mile
My truck is a toy now (and I have the disposable income) so I went with a REM 2500 (actually suncoast performance) unit. And my impressions is that the FTVB is much softer on part throttle 1-2 shifts. Which I think was too hard to begin with. I'd say it's now perfect! But then again I drive like your grandpa.
If your looking for a good bang for the buck mod? This is'nt it.
