Boost loss at high rpm?

I recently bought an 01 lightning and sometimes when I'm cruising in second and got to mash the pedal the blower kicks in and then at the top of the rpms or almost at the top I hear a slight break in the blower whine but it's a matter of fractions of a second. I check the boost gauge but it doesn't move. Is this belt slipage or is this normal? All I have is a K&N FIPK and the truck only has 16k on it. Any ideas?

Check underneath the s/c pulley. Rub your finger there and see if there is any rubber residue under there. If there is your belt is slipping.

Your tensioner may be wearing out, your belt may be stretched, you may want to consider those routes before adding a larger idler pulley
