Do any of you tow with single program chips?

I have 2 four-wheelers that I tow with my Lightning during the weekends. One goes in the bed and the other goes on a utility trailer. Will I be able to continue doing this after my chip and pulley are on. I don't want or plan on a switch chip or hanheld tuner. Total weight is around 1,000 pounds. I noticed that on the highway with this load, you can hear the blower the whole time. It quietly whines the whole time which indicates that I am feeding it more throttle to keep speed than I would without the load. So obviously the truck is feeling the weight if I need to keep on the gas. So will it detonate with a chip tune while doin this?

I haven't but a brother at www.talonclub.com has towed a boat multiple times for two hours at 90 mph plus with a 6# lower.
