No you will be fine. Are you sure you want a catback as your first mod?
Tuning your truck would be fairly easy. Just purchase Predator or SCT tuner and you can get you "custom tunes" emailed to you by what ever vendor you purchase it from. I'd use JLP, PSP, JDM or James @ RTWD ( I heard his mail order tunes on spot on )
Mod that beast!! Not only will you have a rare truck over there but It will be smoking fast for chasing down all the gold at the end of the rainbows.

you can add exhaust no problem!

Depending on what year truck you have, you may be able to add some more mods, before you require a chip.

Reason being:
The later models (01-04) and especially 03-04 seem to be programmed from the factory much leaner 12.2+/1

You can add a factory tech valve body, (shift kit) that bolts in relatively easily, and will REALLY wake up the truck. You will be chirp 2nd gear NO problem (best mod I ever did)

An Electric fan will remove a considerable amount of rotating mass. You can buy one for $400 + or make your own (exact thing) for $175

Next you can add some type of Cold Air Intake. I recommend either PSP or JLP's setup. (both are ram air)

You should add some traction bars to help prevent the rear end from twisting $100-$400. I had the $100 Lakewood bars and they worked fine. never had a problem. Now I run JLP Lift Bars. Cost much more, but "feels" better.

All of the above you can do without Changing the plugs or needing a chip!.

Some people are running a 2# lower pulley without a chip, I wouldn't recommend it, Especially if you have a 03-04.

Something to think about is that a Chip will do ALOT to bring out the performance of your truck.

Contact SAL at PSP (I drove 2 days to have him tune my truck)
With basic mods, he can burn you a chip and ship it, or you can buy a predator, and order tunes, and he can E-mail them to you and you can put them on. Very Easy.

thanks but at the minute still trying to get used to how fast the truck is stock!!plus the fact that our roads are all hills, twists and roundabouts. good to know though and in a few months time may start down that road. lets get this exhaust on first and see how she sounds!!!

Welcome to our forum IB!

If you get the Basanni c/b, throw the clamps away or after installing them, get the connections tack-welded. Those clamps are prone to having too little clamping power. Some guys have just substitued with the 'normal' 'U'-bolt clamp and been OK.

I have a JDM c/b with a single, Magnaflow(internal X-pipe) s/s muffler and it's just a wee bit louder than stock. Btw, the L's stock exhaust system is very efficient so a c/b will not give you any more power in fact, you will lose some torque with a c/b.
