Dent in Truck!! Rant!!

Someone put a nice dent in my door awhile back. I caught her trying to walk off so I chased her down. Turns out it wasn't her vehicle so her insurance wouldn't cover it. It cost me $50.00 to get it taken out! I park all the way on the other side of the parking lot and I still get dents in my truck! I came out from the gym the other night and this car is parked extremely close to my door. Again, I was parked at the other end away from everyone. I looked for another dent in the door and there was none so I left. Next day I am getting in and there it is. There is a two inch crease in the frame behind the driver's side door. I was pissed. I called the same guy to come fix it and he said he couldn't beause of the location. He said it would cost about 400.00 at a body shop! Anyone have this happen to them? Any ideas on the best way to get it fixed without a lot of body work. Thanks for the help.

I did file a police report. In was on an Air Force base. After her insurance wouldn't cover it the Security Police told me there was nothing they could do.

God I hate people that fling their doors open like they don't give a ***** about other people's vehicles Trust me, I've had this type of incident happen to me several times in the past (way in the past).

Call me a freak, but I NEVER park my truck at the following places anymore to avoid the above situation and thieves.

1) Movie Theater parking lots
2) Mall or Department Store parking lots
3) College Campuses (done with all that several years ago)
4) Grocery Store parking lots

I do have it better than most as I don't drive my L to work unless it's a Friday and I want to show it off ( I have a take home work car). And when I get home I usually drive my girlfriends car if I need to go somewhere.

But, if I did drive it on a daily basis you better believe I'd be scoping out the choice spots. My favorite spots are usually in the front (surprisingly) near a handicap spot that has thos huge stripped off areas on both sides. Just park right on the line or just a tad bit over into the stipped area (not too much though). Never had a problem in these spots.

Our Wal-Mart Supercenter here doesn't have those cart stations. Suffice to say, I don't shop there anymore even though its cheaper than the local grocery stores. I used to make runs at like 2 AM just to avoid the thousand shopping carts scattered in the lot during the day....

Im no insurance expert BUT My Insurance covers ME no matter what I drive ... The ONLY concern about what you own is thats the LIMIT of the insurance - In other words if you own a 30,000 car and drive a 100,000 carytou insurance may not cut it ...

Was it her opinion that she wasnt covered or the Ins company ? I think she scammed you. You have the report - Its her fault - YOu can always sue....

No matter where you go and park I seems like there is someone waiting to open ther doors and damage our trucks. I feel your pain.
