Welcome to the board. Sorry about the blown engine. Sounded like it was a good excuse to get a built motor??? Going with JLP was a good idea. Got any details on the built block?

havent talked much with sue or johnny.... they just started on my truck this morning and said i would get a call by wednesday to tell me how it looks on the inside. so far im pretty sure im getting stage 2 cams and ported heads thrown into the mix with the built block. i wish i had an extra 3K for the KB but im just going to get the eaton ported. figured i should get all the internals done while the engine is pulled, instead of throwing on a KB without cams and ported heads.

Welcome!

I think you made a good choice with the ported eaton. After all,

you have the engine apart, so might as well do everything that

you can there. Then slap a KB on later. But you might find out you

don't need it!

well to start it off i dont think that i had a very good tune on it. i had it tuned on a dyno in virginia when it was warm out. well its a bit colder up in chicago and i was running it pretty hard on the higway cause people were messing with me the whole ride from michigan to north chi-town. anyways i was getting on it and when it shifted from 3rd-4th is when it blew. i had a 6# lower on it at the time. so cold air, not good tuning, 6# lower and getting on it pretty hard is what did it im sure. JL is calling me tomorrow to tell me how it looks on the inside.
