The advantage to Truk Tracs is that you don't lose the
softness of the street ride like you do when you tie it
up like a four link. Sal ran down into the 10's with Truk tracs
and I put them through the wringer also.

They are the best compromise in my opinion.

Re: Traction Bars for street use?

I have the Competition Engineering Slide a Link Traction bars on my truck.

They require no drilling, however the leafs need to come off and the install is pretty involved. It wasn't bad though, did it by myself over the course of a day.

the bars are completely adjustable and very very beefy. I have some pictures of them in my gallery, and if you want to see them in person, I'm in gainesville right now. (going to school at UF)

email me thru the board or send me an IM @ mlstergadget (yup thats an L) if you want to get in touch or have any other questions.

Those look slick. Man I wish there were only a couple of options. Now I have like 3 I'm eyeing. As for seeign them in person, I'd love to. I'm having a wrench session on Saturday most likely to do my gauges. I provide the beer and food, you guys provide the idiotic comments making fun of me while I wrench

What do you guys with traction bars do when you need to tow or haul something heavy? I have a set of lakewoods, but I never put them on because I use my car hauler randomly behind the L.

You get a ruff ride.

I made my bars

I had to pick up my wifes Isuzu Rodeo with a trailer on monday, It was a very ruff ride with the bars on. But I have them set close to the spring. It's also lowered 2 in in the rear. I may put some airbags on the rear to help with towing.

If you remove the rubber bumper before you tow, You may get a better ride.

With the (JDM) Rancho Bars it is not a problem, infact you don't really notice you have traction bars. I have towed my Focus with them and they worked great.

Sorry to go out of topic but does anyone with 99-00 L that has up graded to the 01 and newer driveshafts want to sell there old driveshaft. My Buddy needs one ASAP.

These is what happens when you don't have traction bars. People go crazy trying to find driveshaft...

You da man Don. I just spent an hour reading all the posts from my searches on here and nloc regarding traction bars, and although I'm strictly looking for a Street machine., I might as well splurge and get the 58" over the Truck Traks. The CE and Metco's look like too much hassle. I don't want tohave to make strip/street adjustments, I just want fast street hookups without a kideny-killing ride.

As for which brand, it seems the JLP's bracket hangs a tad lower. My truck has 3" shackle drop in the rear and the Bassani exhaust. Am I pretty much relegated to using the JLP, or can I look at the JDM and LFP's as well? Just trying to save a few pennies here and there, but I need to save my axle from snapping most importantly

Thanks so much for the help!
Josh
