DTC P1450 - Unable to Bleed Up Fuel Tank Vacuum

Definition: EVAP system monitors the fuel vapor vacuum and pressure in the fuel tank. The system failure occurs when the EVAP running loss monitor detects excessive fuel tank vacuum with the engine running (but not at idle).

Possible Causes:
*Blockages or kinks in EVAP canister tube or EVAP canister purge outlet tube (between fuel tank, EVAP canister purge valve and EVAP canister)

*Fuel filler cap stuck closed (no vacuum relief)

*Contaminated fuel vapor elbow on EVAP canister

*Restricted EVAP canister

*CV solenoid stuck open (partially or fully)

*Plugged CV solenoid filter

*EVAP canister purge valve stuck open

*VREF circuit open (harness near FTP sensor, FTP sensor or PCM)

*Damaged FTP sens

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd use a scan tool to monitor the FTP (fuel tank pressure) PID and then unscrew the gas cap and see if it comes up. in a vacuum situation your FTP should read about .3 volts. vented the FTP should read around 2.5v you might have a bad FTP sensor. you also might have a clogged charcoal canister (round thing located over your spare tire) or the cannister vent solenoid could be bad (stuck closed, not allowing the tank to vent when commanded). you might have a faulty Vapor Management Valve which is constantly pulling a vacuum on your fuel tank. you might just have a bad gas cap.

tough to say without some EVAP diagnosis.

good luck.

later,
chris

Thanks man. Now that is alot of technical stuff so is there any easy fix or way of figuring out which part is broken? It's for my brothers 99 Expedition so I figured someone would know what to do.
