L acted weird tonight.

Guys, help me with this. After I got off work tonight, I decided to take the highway home. I am on my way when I see that there is not another car in sight, so I let her go. Trying to avoid a blown engine from kicking down at 70 mph, I only get on the gas enough to have the tranny kick down to 3rd, then I went WOT. So Im blasting along at 4500 rpms when it paused and dropped 200-300rpm, thinking its the convertor locking I thought no biggie. Going on Im looking at the road waiting for it to shift in 4th, I waiting and waiting when I finally looked down and then it shifted. I thought to myself that I took to long to shift.

I went wide open a second time to see if it would do that again. The rpms went to 4500 and dropped to about 4300, like it did last time(again, thinking it the convertor). Im looking at the tech and see that when it hit 5100 rpms, it just stayed there. Thinking wtf AND seeing my Autometer boost guage sitting on 17lb of boost(stock block ), I let off.

As Im almost home, I turn on a long road leading to my house. After I turn I roll into it from 20 mph, soon as I hit WOT, I hear the exhaust and s/c whine studder. Now Im really thinking wtf. I got on it again but only with about 8-9lbs of boost and still in 4th, this time the truck studders. Thinking "OH CHIT" I ease it home.

So, what could this be? Tranny problem or something with the engine. Please help me on this.

sounded like a slipping tranny at first... might want to get that checked out.. on the other hand, I dont know what the studdering could be. That part sounds like something motor related. Anyone who knows what they're talking about want to chime in?

a couple of burnt plugs possibly? Was it cold out when you let her run?

Number one thing that jumps to my mind is a loose chip. I've seen weird stuff happen when they get loose.

I really thought I had a bad fuel pump... but in my case it was just a loose chip(different car). Cost me $300 to find this out too btw....

I had the same happen once but, hasn't done it again. the engine was like shuttering a little thought it might be the new Apten port along with some cavitation in the charger. Although I'm getting a PO125 code says low coolant temp in loop on the chart O codes. Let us know what you find !

my guess is its not a tranny or anything major mechanical.
sounds like a isolated fuel burn problem and the computer is protecting the truck.....

dose it idle good ?,and the problem is with a load only as you describe ?

check all the basics

fuel filter , plugs, coil pacs, etc. and I would download a less agressive tune if you have one and see what it dose....

Todds, truck did the same thing at 80-95, the truck would shutter, pop, and fall on its face.... and we found the problem to be the oil in the galley.

I have tommarrow off and do plan on having a machanic check the plugs, fuel filter, etc.

The truck did start to idle rough(sp?) today. Not in gear but in park or nutrual and it sputers alittle now when I get off the gas and just coast. Oh I hope its nothing bad.

BTW, the tune I have in it is the street tune. I have a racing tune but I have not played with it yet.
