What the F*! Dyno #s down?

Okay, so over the summer had the trucked dynoed on a hot day and pulled 410/512 which I was really happy with considering my mods. Chip(street side), Filter, 4#er, Cat-back. So this weekend went and dynoed again after adding E-fan couple of months ago and this time only pulled a 380/475 and 387/467. Only thing I can think of is that the truck hardly got any cool down after an hour ride up. But could there really be that much of a difference compared to letting it sit? Although different places, both were dynojets. Any thoughts fellas?

Since the dynos were actually different (same make but different locations), you can't really compare numbers. Also, getting dyno'd on a heat soaked engine can affect your RWHP/torque quite a bit. Both of those combined is probably why there was such a big difference.

Are both SAE or STD? I would be willing to bet one is STD and one is SAE. Also different dynos, will yield different numbers.

Based on your mods and your ET/mph in your signature, I'd say your more current dyno numbers are the proper ones. It sounds like your 410/512 numbers are the ones that are way off. Most trucks don't even hit 400 with those mods, and 410/512 would give you an easy 12.4/12.5 truck.

I was going to say the same thing, but was trying to explain the difference rather than say the 1st numbers looked too high. The STD vs SAE also makes sense if that's what happened.

Your 2nd dyno does look more correct based on your ET.

hmmm

even switching from std to sae, those number don't make much sense. The torque difference is way too far off.

My 2000 with chip, filter, efan, 4lb lower, ported eaton, full exhaust made 437/523 STD , which in Sae is still over the 400/500 mark I belive. That's on a sub 12.0 a/f , pulls done on my street program.

This post is directed at Sal.

Not trying to start a fuss, but just wondering why you maintain that my numbers are normal for my setup when I constantly see these kinds of posts. I realize trucks are different and blah blah blah, but 2000 model dyno results I see are continuously higher than mine by a fair margin.

Meaningful mods are as follows:
2000 L
4# Lower
Apten Eaton
E-Fan
90mm MAF
Bassani Cat-back
Accufab TB
Open Element Filter
Flipchip

Dyno #s - 383HP/440TQ STD

I am just trying to figure this out. If you would rather email me about this feel free to hit me up with the link in my signature.

Again, not trying to be a schitt stirrer, just wondering why it feels like my results differ so greatly.

I agree...I am just over the 400/500 club as well with all my mods and my street tune (race tune a bit more) But mine was on a Mustang Dyno too.

I would say 380 or so is about right...and still good numbers

Kimball, I DO think your numbers are low, but not THAT low. Most 99/00s I've dynoed with those mods average about 390ish, some lower, some higher. You have to keep in mind that 99/00s start out about 320rwhp stock, as opposed to the 01-up's 350. All you've really got done as far as hp adders are the pulley, port job, and e-fan. So while it's a little low, I don't think you are that far off. I would suggest getting on a different dynojet, and see what the numbers are. Get your A/F and we can see if you need a tune adjustment.

I really do not know when I will be able to get to a dyno again as there is only one Dyno w/ AF within 100 miles and it is at the Dynojet research facility and we no longer see eye to eye at that location......

I am looking into getting a wideband AF meter this winter, so maybe with that and a dyno down the street I can get some better numbers.

Do you have any pointers for getting rid of slip when running on a Dynojet 224? I haven't been able to get a good run on the 224 like i did on the 248. Just about every run I have made on a 224 it breaks loose. And I know that that will throw my values off as well.

I am sure we will get this figured out eventually, just hard to do with where I am located. Thanks again.

Hmm, you sure you are having slip? I've got a 224, and I've had 800+hp cars on it and haven't had any wheelspin issues.

Oh, and a wide band is a great idea.

Well, I could feel something that felt like slip as well as see a change on the graph. It felt exactly like when you break the tires loose on the street. Odd thing is that the graph shows a increase in power on the slip. Maybe my tranny was doing something odd? My buddy that works at the shop said the have problems with some vehicles and slip with the dyno.

The dyno is an old 224 that the shop got from Dan down in Vegas that he used for a poo ton of testing I guess. So it could just be shot.
