Brake decals

I got some really nice Lightning and SVT brake caliper decals from this site on Ebay. They were about 13.00 for both front calipers.

Thumbs up

Yea, I have the ones off the ebay site as well. He also made me some for my GT and is in the process of custom designing a radiator cover decal for me with all the build info. Very good customer service. The caliper decals , btw, hold up surprisingly well. Mine have been on all summer.

wouldnt the vinyl Melt?

I saw that a few months ago and thought about it, but I figured if the caliper would heat up and melt the vinyl

Was thinking the same thing, why would we need high temp paint if a piece of vinyl can survive those high temps?

I painted the front calipers on my 98 GT in 99 with some Kmart black paint I had laying around and they still look good 5 years and about 35K miles later. I did use the hi-temp paint on my L calipers but it probably was not necessary.

I painted the calipers with engine enamel and then added the eBay vinyl stickers. Both the paint and the stickers are holding up just fine. They might not survive road racing, but street usage seems to be no problem. And, at $13.00 a set, it is no big deal if you have to replace 'em for any reason.

He actually gives you a spare set for the 13.00.... in case one does go bad.

when I get a set of those decals, I am going to use them as templates. I will first spray the caliper white. Then throw the decal on. Finish off by painting red on top. When all dry, just peel the decal (template) off. If need be throw on a coat of semi-gloss clear. No need to worry about melting or peeling.
