Truck Cover??
Since it looks like it will soon be time to put the truck away from the winter, I am looking for a good cover.
Those of you who have covers what do you have and hpw do they fit, I am wondering if any of the car cover companies take into account our front bumpers.
I talked to California car cover today and they told me they can customize the cover to fit over my roll bar. For only 20 bucks extra it sounds like a good deal.
Look foward to seeing what you all use and how you like your cover.
Thanks

Don I am looking for a cover too. I sent an email to Cal car cover and never heard anything back.
Fast Gator, I like the look of the one you have. Can that be picked up at any Ford dealership? How much, and does it hurt the paint at all?

It's pricing at $250 with zero availalbe and zero on order. I could'nt see anything in the clearance section. Probalby good idea to phone them. $165 is a good price...cover looks nice.....
Frank
ps and they call it a Lightning car cover
The thing I'm worried about most is something that will leave my paint unscathed. I have a dark colored truck and even micro-scratches will show. I'd hate to have to break out the Porter Cable next Spring...

Come one guys, the ford one won't work for me, so let me know what other choices I have
I had been looking for a quality car cover for a few months. I searched many post here and other forums and the vast majority of people recommended the NOAH cover by Covercraft.
Cal Car has them and so do a few other places. I found the NOAH at Big Sky Car Covers to be the best price I could find which was $195 plus $9 shipping (UPS ground).
NOAH is one of the best covers for indoor/outdoor and is a custom fit for the Lightning. If you go to the site you have to select year, model etc. When it ask for model insure you select “Lightning” from the other F150 models.
I would think the covers would be the same for a standard F150 flareside but since there is a choice for Lightning I am hoping it is because of the lower front bumper so that it will completely cover it like in Fast Gators picture.
It takes 2 ½ - 3 weeks to get so I haven’t received mine but again from all the reading I have done here and other sites it seems to be hands down the NOAH is what most people select and recommend.
As far as the questions regarding the possibility of micro scratching from having the cover on. Mine will be used indoors as my Lightning is stored in a garage but I plan on using it next summer for pulling my trailer for some camping and that is why I chose the NOAH so that I can cover it at the camp site to keep tree sap and other crap off of it.
The NOAH will also keep moisture out but yet is a breathable fabric so if there is any moisture under the cover it will be able to evaporate which is important. So for your typical rain it should be able to keep the vehicle dry underneath as well as the moisture from the snow when it starts to melt that was sitting on the cover.
Make sure that you wash your truck and put a coat of wax or polish on it. If it must remain outdoors the only problem you might have is if it gets windy with dust. The NOAH is suppose to be one of the better ones that will not allow dust to sift through the fabric but if you have a windy day were it appears to be real dusty out then I would pull it off and check it to make sure the paint surface is still dust free.
I would personally recommend that if someone knows it’s going to be a real windy day with ANY possibility of dust in the air it would be better to completely remove the cover then chance the possibility of micro scratches from the dust that would get under the cover.
The fabric itself will not cause any scratching regardless of how windy it is since the inside fabric is soft. Your only problems with scratching will come if dirt and dust are allowed to get between it and your paint so it would be a good idea to check under the cover once a week or so to insure the paint surface is clean and free of any dust and dirt due to having some windy days.
If it is parked in a garage there is no need to worry because the cover won’t get blown around nor will dirt and dust be able to get between the paint surface and cover SO LONG as it was washed properly before putting the cover on it.

I orginally bought that cover for my 99 Lightning that was parked outside during the winter. The cover is 5 yrs old and holding up very well.
As far as scratches, I wish I could honestly tell you, but because the 99 was black.....who knows. Every time I looked at the truck, there was a new swirl, scratch, or dirt on it
I use it on my silver 01 now, and it hasn't hurt the paint since 01.
I have never regretted the decision to buy it
