help me in my thinking with 1/2 drop

I have an 03 that I previously dropped with rear 2" shackles only. I had a little vibration so I returned the truck back to stock. I have since added JLP traction bars. My question is - If I reattempt the drop with the 2" rear shackles and i now I plan to add 1" front springs will the 1" up front compensate the pinion angle any doing the front and rear and the same time? Also, is the 1"/2" drop drastic enough to through the front JLP brackets off when dropped? Thanks in adance

Changing the front springs has no effect whatsoever on the pinion angle. The pinion angle is determined by the location of the differential in the chassis. If you had a vibration on your 03 with the shackles, you probably just needed to turn the wedge shaped shims on the bottom of your spring packs 180 degrees. The thick end of the shim should be toward the rear of the truck with a 2 to 3 inch drop on the rear of an 03 or 04.

You should be fine with your JLP lift bar brackets after your 1/2 drop. You *may* need to play with how the rear brackets sit on the axle since you have a bit of room to play with it there more than up front. I wouldn't worry about it though.

I had no problems going to a 2 inch drop shackle in the rear and not messing with my JLP bars. When I went to a 2.5 inch *true* drop (2 inch shackles will not net you a true 2 inch drop), I had to play with those rear brackets a bit. No biggie though.

Thanks guys, fastfordf150 that was exactly what I was mostly concerned about. Thanks for sharing your experience. I have the springs and bump stops for the front but I plan on buying clunk washers and cam bolts before I attempt the front. As for the back, I guess I better buy a set of clamps to keep the springs together. Hopefully rotating the shims 180* will correct the pinion angle. I received a helpful response previously for the correct angle 3-4* neg. If I am missing anything before I begin this (again for the rear) please let me know. Thanks again
