Go get them boys!

Who cares if the Gen 3 is delayed or cancelled. Now you have the opportunity to make your gen 2 faster than the gen 3 could have ever been. Why? Simple its 600lbs lighter and IMO looks better... Now who will be the first to put a stick in their GT powered Lightning? SRT, try to smoke this!

FORD RACING OFFERS FORD GT PRODUCTION HARDWARE, PLUS PERFORMANCE AND APPEARANCE ENHANCEMENTS

2004 SEMA Show
· Ford Racing Performance Parts will offer production hardware from the Ford GT supercar, as well as some unique Ford GT performance and appearance upgrades.
· The Ford GT's 550-horsepower 5.4-liter DOHC supercharged V8 and other individual components will be added to the Ford Racing catalog.
· Among the performance parts upgrades for Ford GT owners will be an exhaust system, including headers and muffler, a short-throw shifter and a transaxle cooler.
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 2 – Ford Racing announced at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturer's Association (SEMA) show that performance hardware from Ford's supercar, the 2005 Ford GT, will soon be available in their Performance Parts catalog. What's more, Ford GT owners will be able to choose from a selection of performance and appearance upgrades for their own supercar.
Ford performance enthusiasts looking for the ultimate powertrain for any unique or custom application can now buy the same complete engine and transaxle assembly that is installed in the most spectacular Ford performance vehicle to ever come out of a Ford factory – the 2005 Ford GT. Plus, the engine block and cylinder heads may be purchased separately.
There is also good news for lucky owners of the new Ford GT. FRPP will be offering a variety of performance and high-end appearance enhancements that will help them tailor their factory supercar to their own particular tastes.
For those seeking a high-efficiency, bolder-sounding exhaust, a complete performance exhaust system – from a set of tuned engine exhaust headers right back through the muffler – will not only provide a power increase but also a more authoritative engine note from idle to wide-open throttle. The new system, sourced from Borla, is expected to be a popular bolt-on upgrade.
Other Ford GT performance items appearing in the initial catalog parts offering include a transaxle cooler kit for track use, as well as a shorter-throw competition-feel shifter.
"The Ford GT is the ultimate expression of Ford Performance and we're excited to be able to provide the exceptional hardware from our supercar," said Jamie Allison, Manager, Ford Racing Performance Parts (FRPP). "FRPP will be the only place to go for performance upgrades for the Ford GT."
To help owners add some subtle specialty touches to their cars, a selection of tasteful appearance items will also be available. Billet caps for the coolant and intercooler overflow bottles, as well as for the oil tank, will help set off the engine compartment. Inside, a billet shift ball and functional protective seat covers are available. And many more items are still being developed.
"From the Ford Focus all the way up to the Ford GT, FRPP is working hard to bring to market the right parts at the right price for all Ford performance enthusiasts – no matter what they drive," Allison added. "And more is being added to the pipeline every month, so stay tuned."

FORD RACING PERFORMANCE PARTS WHIPS UP BOLT-ON SUPERCHARGED POWER FOR FORD CARS AND TRUCKS

2004 SEMA Show
· Ford Racing Performance Parts to offer supercharger packages for variety of production powertrains, from inline fours to V8s.
· Roots-type and screw-type superchargers have "bolt-on" ease of installation.
· Power boost delivers increased usable horsepower and torque for enhanced street and off-road performance.
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 2 – Ford Racing Performance Parts (FRPP) will be the place to go for any Ford enthusiast looking to add some extra supercharged ponies under the hood of their car or truck. FRPP brought two new screw-type supercharger "swap" kits to the Specialty Equipment Manufacturer's Association (SEMA) show as the first steps in the development of a wide range of bolt-on supercharged power kits.
"Ford has years of experience with factory supercharging, most recently on projects ranging from the Ford GT supercar to the SVT Mustang Cobra and F-150 Lightning," said Jamie Allison, Manager, Ford Racing Performance Parts. "For those enthusiasts seeking more performance, Ford Racing Performance Parts now offers easy bolt-on upgrade kits to SVT supercharged vehicles, and we'll apply the same technology to an expanding list of Ford car and truck powertrains."
The first kits available from FRPP will be supercharger swap kits for the 2003-04 SVT Mustang Cobra and 1999-2004 SVT F-150 Lightning. Ford Racing worked with Whipple Industries on the development of the screw-type supercharger swap kits. The kits will include a new screw-type supercharger to replace the production roots-type unit, including all necessary hardware for direct bolt-on installation. The kits are direct swaps and do not require engine management programming changes. Power is expected to be increased by approximately 20 percent.
The second wave of supercharger upgrade kits will be for the Jackson Racing supercharger units that FRPP offers for the Focus Zetec engines, including both the base 2.0-liter and SVT Focus 2.0-liter units. The new kits will be "big boost" upgrade hardware packages that can be applied to already owned and installed Jackson Racing superchargers, as well as being offered as a complete supercharger package with the "big boost" already included. The "big boost" kit includes all of the necessary hardware as well as a Ford-developed engine management computer calibration update.
"Whether owners are looking to boost the power of their factory supercharged car or truck or they simply want to add supercharged performance to their non-SVT powered Ford, these new FRPP kits will be the hot ticket to adding proven, bolt-on horsepower," Allison said.
Ford Racing's future plans for kits based on the screw-type supercharger technology are to cover a wide range Ford car and truck powertrains. The first stand-alone supercharger kits will be for the new 2005 Mustang's 4.6-liter 3V V8 and for the 2004-05 F-150's 5.4-liter 3V V8. After that, development work will turn to the last-generation F-150's and Expedition's 5.4-liter SOHC V8. Ford Racing will then continue with truck applications including the 6.8-liter 2V and 3V V10s.
More information on these kits and other Ford Racing Performance Parts can be found at: www.fordracingparts.com. Ford Racing Performance Parts are sold without warranty and are for off-road use only.

these "I'm happy (or who cares if) there's no Gen III" posts miss the bigger point, and that is that its a shame Ford is scrapping the Lightning program, and ultimately probably SVT. My opinion is that any decision or policy to limit the options available to Ford performance enthusiasts is a bad move-regardless of how much better we like our current vehicles over the concept vehicles.

It's difficult to get excited about a $150k car, and $50k engine as if anybody can go in and buy it and throw it in their everyday driver.

Ford is catering to a very select few (who knows why), and doing away with what the average person could afford in the way of a mass produced real performance vehicle. The GT's, Mach I's and Bullets are not nearly as impressive as the SVT.

This just follows in Fords' foot steps in that they had the ability to put a 351W in their Mustang for years, and never did, while Chevrolet was whipping their a$$ with their Camaros from the mid 90's and up.

The non-enthusiasts pencil neck geeks have taken over and now (and probably soon no more SVT). Well, I'm glad I bought one, because I thought long and hard, and said what the heck. Having fun with it.

Where do you get that price? Their engines are very competitive with what is being offered in the market including some very inferior engines from a few back yard tuners. Their most expensive engines are less than 7K and the new 5.0 cammer is 15K complete at full retail price. You can deduct 20-25 points if you can buy at trade pricing from your favorite dealer.

The GT engine was intended for the Gen 3 Lightning. The Ford Racing rep told me that prices will be released next month and will come with 100K+ reliability and engineering.

I would absolutely pay a pretty big premium to drop in an aluminium block.

You would expect to drop at least a couple hundred pounds right? I've nearly cut out internal organs for 10 pounds, so a couple hundred is really worth it.

Plus better heads, and dare I say a warranty?

I guess nobody read the second part of the press release. It announced the release of the Ford Racing Whipple supercharger upgrade for Cobras and Lightnings.

A Ford engineered whipple twin screw. I saw the kit and it looks great. Certainly is worth consideration for any Lightning owners looking for an afordable upgrade.

What kind of warranty do you get from your tuner? BTW, I'm not promoting Ford Racing, I'm just providing information to Lightning owners as to what else is available in the market place.
