Predator Shift Firmness

I'm wanting to get a FTVB but I've got to wait till after the tax return next spring. In the meantime, I'm running a filter, 4# lower, and JLP custom predator tune. The shifts aren't hitting hard at all and I'm wondering what the highest amount over stock I can set the shift firmness to on the predator without harming the stock tranny. Thanks for any help.

I would recommend going with the FTVB or JLP accumulator (I used the JLP accumulator and am really happy with the results.) I don't think it's a good idea to change shift patterns with the computer. Search past post's as to the reason's for this or post to Gregg Evan's, he's very knowledable on this subject.
Sincerely,
Bryan

The general concensus is that you will damage your tranny more/sooner over a period of time, as compared to leaving the fluid pressures stock. The recommendation is to get the hard shift via the valve body and not the fluid pressure.

Thanks for the help. Stock it is. I'll just have to find some patience over the next couple of months.

Well, Christmas is coming up soon, perhaps a collection from all of the friends and family will get you a valve body. I will donate to the cause. And since I just put mine in, I seem to have a good idea how it goes. I even have a torque wrench that goes from 5 inch lbs to 50 inch lbs, and one from 40 inch lbs to 200 inch lbs.
