Check this out...Autometer NEXUS gauges

Hey guys, I don't know how new these are, maybe they have been around in the ricer or show circles for a while?, but this is the first time I've seen them.

they certainly may not be for everybody, and who knows how they would look in an L, but I still think they are pretty interesting.

plus the demo that Autometer has on their website is interactive, features voice and music and IMHO is pretty impressive.

not only do they have their own "look", but they have quite a few appearance and functional options.

hell, they offer a remote control to operate the gauges!!!

take a few minutes and check this out:

http://hp.autometer.com/products/nexus/index.html

later,
chris

They are pretty cool, I like the expandability and that you can store info and download it to a PC

My Alpine radio can change colors, but it can be adjusted to any color, so I can match my dash perfectlly

I'm actually going to come out and admit that I like these gauges, a lot. The "simulated driving thing" is ghey, but the features can't be ignored.

Continuously changing colors? Animations? Remote control? Remote f*cking control? Useless as teats on a boar. I lost 10 IQ points just by watching that stupid Web presentation.

Gentlemen, we are not the target market.

It's about time Autometer came out with these. I had Apexi gauges that had features like these back in 2000 on my Supra. The Apexi gauges ran $300-350 each. Anyone know how much these Autometers run?

Ok, I might be a loser, but I thought they were cool. I liked the "red alert" feature. Not that I would ever use it, but it would be really cool if you could get a 'star-trek' type voice to chime in when ever you gauge went red;

"system failure immenent. total shut down in 10 seconds."

I'm disappointed that Autometer stole from other brands. Apexi was mentioned and Defi has had these features for years already. Nice that Autometer just stole their technology and have nothing original of their own.

Besides a tach. I dont see where the "Red Alert" would be benificial, except maybe.....scaring the s**t out of you while your driving

Not bad, but I agree with Tim. Not to my personal taste or liking.

I don't think it is stealing. It seems more like the normal evolution of gauges.

Pretty neat IMO

They have a remote control?

I WANT THE REMOTE and trigger the red alert in any ricer around here. Wouldn't that be funny? Pull up next to a Honda with the 3 ft tall rear wing and have his car start screaming red alert!

Look at a DEFi gauge and the Autometer will almost mirror the features. The only difference is the colors and bevel used. Almost all things borrow ideas from past and current products, but Autometer made a very close copy and will just sell it cheaper since it's made cheaper in some 3rd world country. This in turn takes business away from quality companies and progress for companies wanting to make a quality product.
