12v power for lighted gauges?

Hey guys,

I installed a boost gauge in one of those steering column pods. Everything is functioning correctly, except I cannot get the light to work. I have checked my ground, and that is good.

I was planning to run it to the fuse box and located the correct "instrument panel lights" fuse (#18, 5A), but couldn't get that to work. ???

Maybe I should just tap in behind the light switch. How do I get that apart/out of the dash? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check here...

It's not a steering colum pod, but the source he shows is the source I used and It worked fine...

To get the headlight switch out of the dash, you have to remove the bottom part of the dash, and then push it out from behind it.

I tried to pry mine out...bad idea...I suggest taking the time to get the bottom dash off...

Thanks, Dennis. Worked great. Looks awesome. The Lunar series has that light green electroluminescent lightning just like the stock gauges, so it is a very, very, very near match.

If you tap off the cup holder light do you need an in-line fuse ?

I didn't use an extra fuse.. it'll blow the cupholder fuse if it has to.

I didn't know the 04's didn't have a cupholder light.. My cupholder light was hidden by the ashtray in the drivers side cupholder..

I just piggy back spliced mine into one of the wires behind the light switch...I believe it was the blue wire with the pinkish stripe on it. just take a small screwdriver and put it in the lil slot and it pops right out, plus usin this source you can actually dim the gauge with the stock instrument panel dimmer. Works great for me. Let me know and I'll go take some pics of it.
