While my blower is being ported,,,

Hi all,
I have the complete manifold off the truck and on the bench.
The blower is going out to Apten for porting.
While the blower and intercooler/manifold are off the truck and on the bench, what other performance things should I do to the manifold/intercooler?
I "hope" this will be a rare opportunity to have the complete assembly off the truck and I'd like to take any/all advantage to apply things you all have already experienced or wanted to do.

I'll be running 12psi boost with the ported blower.
The intercooler is a 2001 (10 row).

My current list:
port the blower
change the plugs
clean/port the air intake (what works best for this?)
slightly widen out the throttlebody openings

cleaning the intake I suppose us ethe same cleaner / degreeser as you use for the IC and run a rag through it to clan it up.

For porting a dremel will work but will take a while.!
this was my x-mas mod plan until I totaled my girl 3 weeks ago!

Goodluck!

The intercooler looks really clean (spotless).
But, how would I go about cleaning it in the future?
It looks like the IC is attached to the manifold with some sort of goop or silicon or something. I figured it was assembled at the factory and not to be disassembled ever.

You're right, a dremel porting job would take a while.
I'm looking into sanding sponges or sanding wheel that can be ran in and out of the air intake to get a clean/smooth finish.
There are lots of casting boogers that could be smoothed out pretty easily.

1. Buy brake cleaner (A case of it) and clean the crap out of the I/C even if it looks clean

2. Open the mouth of the intake to match the opening on the ported Blower. (can't do this until you get your blower back.

3. Paint the outside of the lower manifold to "dress up" the engine compartment.

4. Paint the intake. (no need to sand it smooth)
4. Alternatively, Polish the intake.

5. clean the throttle body and butterflies,

6. change the plugs

7. clean the rubber boot from the MAF to the throttle

8. clean the IAC, even if it looks clean.

9. check ALL hoses (plastic ones) for cracks and rubber ends for the same thing. (unmetered air)

This is your chance to dress up your engine compartment.

10. Get a phenolic spacer and open it up to match the ported blower and install it.

that's about all I can think of off the top of head. Remmeber the fluid INSIDE the i'c cools and protects the aluminum from corrosion. the longer you leave the i'c fluid out of the aluminum i?C the more corrosion you will have.

I cleaned mine right after taking it off and then filled it with i'c fluid and let it sit until I installed it.

Send intake to NX so they can custom install a nitrous fogger system.
