Whats the most timing u can run?

On 100 octane and a good dyno tune.I made 476 h.p. on my last dyno.I just added a 2.7 upper to my already had 8 lb lower.I'm running 22 degrees timing on my race program .I really would like to see 500h.p. My upper before at 476 was stock.Has anyone safely run 24 degrees?
Jason

My last blown-up motor, tuned by REM, had 50 degrees of timing. No real signs of detonation with the alcohol injection, but my cams were also installed retarded.

How do you guys know how much timing your running? I have a custom Predator tune(Sal). I guess I could use a timing light? 50 degrees of timing sounds like a lot? That's total timing right?

More timing is not always a good thing on mod motors. Too much timing and you will lose power. Most race tunes on the L using hi octane fuel are in the 18-22 range at wot. Baring the few exotic exceptions, you'd do better to look elsewhere for more hp.

HI!... I'm N/A but severely modded and I have been running 26 degree's of timing for about 3 years now. I run a bit more on my race tune.

I'm running 20 degrees on my street program, with 91 octane gas, and 23 on race with a little 101 mixed in. BUT, I am at 5,000+ feet altitude.

Yes I had it dyno tuned by REM, they use no a/f , tuned by co2 gases and later by Willie at Diablo Motorsports with an a/f meter. The truck was shut off on the dyno by Willie, when he seen the a/f ratios climb to 18 to 1. Your answer to , how could someone overlook that, I dont know. I guess the 25000 dollars I spent with them wasnt enough. I had a built motor, cams and race ported heads and I made 380 rwhp. My stock motor made 417 rwhp.

Some have run 26 degrees with 91 octane and no detonation with water/alcohol injection. 100 Octane is expensive. 116 cost even more. Water/alcohol is real cheap and works better than 116 octane race fuel.
