I won't call it a "waste", but I guess the idea is, why bother taking out the S/C 5.4 to but in a carbed engine.

why not just swap it into a standard F150. it'd definately be cheaper to buy a shortbed standard F150 if you are just going to gut the drivetrain anyway.

just my .02

later,
chris

I agree.

But I'm sure you'll get the argument of still wanting all the other benefits of a L. But that's an awfully expensive interior, suspension, and rolling stock package.......

If I remember correctly. The owner had blown the origional engine while running nitrous. With the cost of the built engine and other things he decided to switch to the crate engine.

514 Cubic Inches!!! Dayum, now thats a big block, hehe but probably doesnt belong in an L. The best thing about these trucks in my opinion are the superchargers!

385 series big block can have superchargers perfectly well.....roots style are available, as are twin screw and centrifugal. And, turbo setups are not a problem either. They are smaller and can be lighter than mod motors (aluminum block, Blue Thunder aluminum heads). We debate this everytime someone mentions a mod motor in a GT40, as came up about 2 days ago over on www.gt40s.com at:

There were some pictures comparing the sizes of the motors too, the big block included. The mod engines are huge compared to their pushrod counterparts and I just don't see the advantages. I like my L, but SOHC for a 5500 RPM red line?

Yup......

Dimensionally......the 4.6 DOHC motor that is in the Cobra's is the largets production motor ever made.

Correct me if I am wrong.

RDY2RAC,
The 5.4L DOHC and 4.6L DOHC Cobra motor are the same dimensionally. The supercharged Cobra motor would be the largest if you include the supercharger!
