Question DIY Driveshaft Loop

I've read a couple of posts on this website of people who built their own driveshaft loop but I didn't see the dimensions used for the loop itself. I've found all the hardware needed but I need to know the dimensions of the loop. Can anyone help?

I have no problems with people trying to make their own stuff, but why not just spend $70 and buy one? What kind of driveshaft loop are you going to make that's NHRA legal? You're not going to bend 1/4" thick x 2" wide steel with average garage shop tools.

I have the tools to make it. I don't need to spend $70. That'll buy 2 custom tunes down the road. Would you be willing to give the dimensions of the loop?

you could probably do it with an oxy fuel torch and a vise. take a few measurements underneath and line up the holes.

Lining up the holes is the easy part. I need to know the dimensions of the loop so I ensure proper clearance from the driveshaft and other surrounding parts.

I would assume greater than 4.5"s!LOL. I plan on doing the same thing as I have access to 2" mild flat steel and a torch. If I do this in the next few days I will let you know. But then again, maybe pole vaulting will get me further into the 12's!

That's easy.

Step one: Jack up truck
Step two: Lay under truck
Step three: Locate driveshaft
Step four: Measure
Step five: Work for 4 hours making a D/S Loop you could have bought for 70 bux.
Step six: Fight to install home made D/S Loop
Step seven: Wonder if it was worth it

All I ask for is some dimensions and it turns into a flaming contest. It is worth every minute I spend in my garage working on my truck. No kids, no wife. So, I can spend some extra time making something of my own or I can spend $50 extra dollars so I can go back in the house sooner. You choose.

Seeing as the only people who would probably know that without going outside to measure are the people who make them or sell them, I would try to see the dimensions on the universal d/s loop from jegs that someone posted about a week ago

My post numbers are low because I find most everything I need from searches. Not all searches turn up what you're looking for. I don't post here to get my numbers up as you can see and I don't spend much time posting on this site because of crap like this. Thanks for your time and help.

I made this one myself in only an hour or so.......

No need to bend anything. I cut an 8" pipe into a 2" wide piece. Then cut it in half and welded in 2" more for extra clearance since my truck was lowered.

I should have powdercoated it instead of painting it.......you can see it starting to rust.

Grade 8 hardware from Lowes was my only cost.
