Do Lightnings have wheel locks? If so, where is the key?
So, if our trucks supposedly have wheel locks, why was the AAA guy able to take the wheel off without a problem?
"Any wheel/tire professional" includes most wheel/tire thieves.
The locks serve the following purposes:
1. De-balance the wheel/tire to an extremely minor degree.
2. Break the symmetrical appearance to an extremely minor degree.
3. Inconvenience the owner during rotations.
4. Provide a hollow "peace of mind" against theft.
And I suppose...
5. Thwart first-time thieves. My fear is that they'll get frustrated by the lock and whack the door/front fender with the lug wrench before they walk away!
But they do make people feel good, so I guess that's SOMETHING!!!

My "03 came with the four "locking lugnuts" and key in the glove box. The first thing I did was take them out and throw them on a shelf. No wheel thief has ever been slowed down by wheel locks, but lots of owners have when they found locks but no key. If you want set, e-mail me. You can have 'em for $ 10.00 plus the shipping cost. I own several vehicles. None have locking lug nuts on them. Now if I can figure out how to eliminate the lock on the spare, I'll be all set.
