Limo tint.........now I'm paranoid.

Had limo tint applied to rear sliding glass and SIDES yesterday. Installers used Llumar and did a great job. Since I already have the factory "strip" up front, I left that alone. Plus, with the rear and sides so dark now, it (obviously) darkens the cabin and gives the APPEARANCE that the front is now tinted more than stock.

But now, every cop that gets behind me, or passes me, I imagine is honing his tint-ticket radar at me.

I'm paranoid as all get out. Im thinking Florida is one of the states where most police officers are cool about this sort of thing, and I dont know how many rice-mobiles I see in town have limo all the way around (and that reflective silver that even Superman isnt going to be able to see thru). So why am I so paranoid? Anyone else go limo on back and sides? Any problems?

A friend of mine saw me park at Wal Mart this afternoon, and immediately said 'isnt that tint illegal?'. I told him to **** (might get jinxed). But then when he said (and he's a black guy) - "Didnt know you white folk dug pimp tint'? That made me laugh. So while shopping at Wal Mart, I bought the Theme Music from Shaft and played the title track twice on the way home.

I drove around for three years with tint that was obviously not legal and finally got caught last spring. The cop wrote me a $170 dollar ticket and I went to court over it. I removed the passenger side tint (it had bubbles anyway) and took pictures of it to show the judge. The cop never showed and the ticket got thrown out. ANyway, I have never gotten around to putting more tint on the passenger side so I have driver side tinted and factory on the passenger but I will fix that this winter. The point is that I am now very paranoid and anytime that I see a cop, I roll down my driver side window to hide the tint. However, I only have to hide it one more day because I am gonna drive it for the last time tomorrow and then put the L up for the winter.

I havn't been ticketed yet, but know it is coming I have been stopped twice, and both times rolled both windows down before the cop got the car so it didn't become one of those "btw you tint looks a little dark" The back window could be painted black; there are not laws on it. Just the side/front.

Something I did different that makes it look not so bad is I didn't have that stripe put on the top of the windsheild so there is no broken line showing dark tint. The side is limo, but the truck is black so it is not so obvious. I wouldn't have it any other way

No need to be paranoid, just live with the fact that you will get a ticket and the paranoia is gone! It will turn into speculation and anticipation as to when and where you will get one.

Sorry, j/k, but I couldn't resist.

I got stopped for tint, and got a ticket... Then I went to an eye doctor and had my vision checked, he said my eyes are sensative to light. Photophobic or something like that.... So he wrote me a letter to confirm it... I brough it to the state police and they had to drop the charges... I carry the letter in the truck with me from now on, but have yet to use it since i got it about 4 years ago...

PEacE...........................

tint is legal....but only so dark, the rear windows can be really dark and be legal...the front windows/tint strip are limited....but most cops dont care...they dont like mirror tint though....it just depends on the cop, if he's having a bad day you may get a ticket.

Yeah, if you happen to tend to drive drunk or carrying drugs, don't get window tint. Or atleast roll down the windows.

Plus they should be down, that smokes gotta go somewhere
