If you have the time, stripping off the factory frame coating and using a regular style one is a good choice. (not sticky! I still wonder how ford decided on a sticky undercoating to attract dirt!)
Spending a few hours down there with some rags and simple green, as well as some steel wool/sandpaper and a can of flat black rustoleum makes a night and day difference.
Of course, this may vary alot depending on your location. What I get away with on a florida truck may barely dent the surface on a snow/salt mess.
