Mr Ford said something to the effect of people not being excited by cars anymore. Like they were in times past.....

I know most folks aren't but I am. And personally I think the 05 stang is "spot on". Now if only the rest of the Ford line up was something more than a passing yawn.

I am the "proud" owner of...

" The greatest sport/muscle truck to ever roam the streets"
I am old enough to remember the Muscle Car Era of the late 50's and 60's.
Talk about disappointment!!!
We went from heaven to hell.
I'm going to enjoy this truck for a little while longer and then...
Who knows?
I am sure the guys at SVT are every bit as dissapointed as we are.
Time to move on...

Yes I did; he uses Crower for both, built to his specs (the rods at least). It is a fair amount of money, but the parts list is way above the standard built motor. I plan on keeping this truck for a while, so I figured it was a good investment.

Never thought about it, but you make a good point. One can wonder whether people who have de-modded the engine before taking it in for warranty service helped to contribute to the bottom line numbers responsible for Ford's decision.

I bought a second 2004 a week ago. I deduct mine on the 179 deduction. This deduction is in the process of getting reduced to a suitable form. Soon it will apply to over 14,000lb GVWR vehicles instead of 6000lb GVWR SUVs. Last year made, 2)X-Plans, both totally deducted.....it's a no brainer.

Matt at SVT told me about how they all read the boards. Thus, Ford is not that stupid either. Many people who have problems getting REAL warranty work done these days, should all go and thank all of the past "fraudulent claims" braggers.

Situations such as that are part of the reason why I pretty much avoided the Lightning forums for quite a while.

As someone who owned and worked at our Auto Repair and towing business, I can tell you how overboard you will go to avoid warranty claims. So, I can definitally sympathize with Fords outlook on them.

Look at what Mitsubishi did with their Evo's. If they could prove they were in a sanctioned race event, they would void their warranty.

Haha... that's funny. Ford's decision doesn't affect my life in any way. I could give a flying fig about "brand loyalty". I bought a Lightning because it was the truck that fit my needs at the time. Unless I struck some incredible financial windfall, I wasn't planning on buying the Gen 3. I was just voicing a positive side of the decision.
And how is Ford "screwing" you? I don't get it.

Please tell me that their aren't people here stupid enough to think that a modern mass produced vehicle is collectable in anything less than 20-30 years.

Also, short of rare instances like Yenko Camaros, if you took the resale values of the classics today (even real hot ones like First Gen Camaros and Mustangs), and converted the dollar amount into 1960's money, you would see that NOTHING has been made.

BTW, I want to thank you all in advance. Its pathetic posts like some here that make Ford feel justified to screw us. They know that they can just pop out some kind of crap like a SuperCrew F150 with a decal package, and there will be plenty of sheep out there that will call it the best thing since baked bread. In the meantime they are laughing behind our backs because they don't have to worry about fraudulent warranty claims anymore.

Well, I think I will go hop in my "resale value" and burn some rubber.

Matt told me that the saddest thing he (and others at SVT) saw is that people on the Focus boards were more upset about this than the Lightning owners.
Just wanted to explain my self a little more!
I guess I was one of the stupid people you are referring too.
I am fully aware that it will take 20 to 30 years to see any big time resell value. I am one of those people who have a 20-year-old car that I'm keeping around for sentimental reasons if nothing else (83 944 Porsche).
I figure that if nothing else it would bring some more money back as an antique. Same thought with my Lightning!

I if nothing else appreciate driving my Lightning and racing when I can!

Enclosing, I would like to say my post was not made to be a slam against you or anyone else on this board. I just wanted to comment on the stupid people thing!

Peace,

Suavy
