What else to do to hit 7's

Currently on street tires I run 8.4 and guessing about an 8.2 on slicks (will find out next week). Anyway what else can I do besides ported blower or KB to get into the 7's without doing weight reduction...here's my mods...

6lb lower
JLP Chip
JLP CAI
NGK TR6's
Borla Catback
20in rims, retractable tonneau cover, and spray in liner for extra weight

i run the amlost the same setup as you..but a 4lb lower, and add a full exhuast...i run 8.3's on slicks at the 1/8 mile track..with my 75shot i just got a tune for, i should be well into the 7's....in your case if you dont wanna spray a small shot...ide do..an e-fan, long tubes, FTVB..should shave off some tenths...good luck...

Cool thanks for the input, I think the 8.4 I ran may be a tad slow for what it's capable of. Went with some friends that day, and they were running about a tenth slower than usual because of the humidity, also ran it with no cool down time. I'm thinking of doing the FTVB and traction bars next. Everyone says the FTVB makes a huge diff while driving but does it actually make any diff on the track?

With a 2\4 combo,chip and air and a 60deg day I could run
8.1's as long as my 60' was in the 1.8 area.

My best so far is 8.10 @86.89 with a 1.85 60'

One thing that made a difference for me were the spring clamps I made that clamp 2 of the leafs together. I ditched the traction bars (I run the stock F1's).

I can't hit a 7 either

It's all in your launch, you'll get it.

FTVB and Stall Converter along with slicks will most likey do the trick. Our stall converter will shave off close to two tenths.

Chickenears,

I have 2 other guys here that I talked into buying Lightnings, anyway one of them is ready to buy the FTVB and 4x4 pan. Is it possible to get a discount if we both call and order the kit you have (FTVB + 4x4 pan and filter). Like a small group purchase of 2 lol

I looked over some old time slips from 9/14/01.
I had an e fan, cal tracs, intake, Throttle body, borla exhaust, accumulator valve, MT et streets 26x11.5x16, 3lb lower, 2lb upper and a chip.

(I may have removed the tailgate, spare tire and front sway bar, I do not remember)

66* humid
1.79 60 foot
8.034 et
86.22 mph

61* humid
1.777 60 ft
7.996 et
86.22 mph

76* humid
1.83 60ft
8.066 et
86.56 mph


I'd say maybe get some traction bars so you don't break the drive shaft, a valve body, and probably your chip reburned to lower the line pressure so you don't hurt something.

It looks as if your mph is down from what mine was. I would have guessed you would have a higher mph. Do you let off the gas because of bad traction?

Ya I thought my MPH was a little low too. I do let off the gas and feather the throttle from the line in order to get it to hook up. I wonder if the humidity or 20in wheels played a factor in that?

Your 20 inch wheels hurt your times. I think you'll have no problem hitting high 7's with slicks and a valve body with your current mods.

-Rims for my slicks (26x11.5x16)
-FTVB and 4x4 Pan
-Traction bars
-e-fan
-fans on the heat exchanger

16x10 wheels will work well with those tires.
