Question New car, First Power Mods?

Hello,

About to buy a Lightning here in the United Kingdom.

Just wondering what everybody suggests as a first mod to get more power.

Bear in mind I live abroad and there are not alot of people who work on Lightnings out here. Need something that is 'plug and play'. Can a chip and pulley be done from a preprogrammed chip?

Let me know what you all think.

Feel free to give me a few tips on Lightning ownership.

Thanks.

You are gonna love the performance, hate the fuel economy! It a real fun vehicle, especially since not many people in Europe expect a truck to go flying past their little cars, hehe. In response to your question, i believe u can buy a pre-programed chip for the pully you expect on buying.

Welcome aboard… first mod is to cut holes in the bottom of the air box, then add a K&N air filter “Good for 1.5 to 2 lbs boost” Then a FTVB mod….. No chip required!!

Have being running with a lower 4lbs, and no chip, for about 9 months now… I did however burned out the old plugs (this was after using them for 39,000 miles), replaced them with TT-22… Great truck, I have had it for about 4 years and I still look forward to getting in it, and WOT-Ting it. Have fun…

I would suggest a call to: PSP,JDM or JLP or all 3 to see who you like.

Welcome,

I recommend REM as a good quality tuner. www.razorsedgemotorsports.com

Living abraud like that I would probably play it on the safe side a bit. Basicly I'd suggest a "chip, filter, 1 range colder plugs, & 4lb pulley" all from the same tuner. This will kick up the power levels and yet keep you on the safe side of modding your truck.

See my web page for the things I've done.

I suggest a SCT Programer, , a filter, and 4 LBS lower pulley
Call JDM or PSP for the programer, pulley, and belt

With the programer, you can reflash the computer without having to remove the computer, and clean the contacts. Also you can allways re install the factory program if you have to bring it in for service. It also can read codes if you ever get a check engine light.

If you want a little better sound add a Magnaflow Cat Back

Then enjoy the ride.

I agree make sure you tell the tuner what octaine fuel you have in the UK

I forgott about the plugs I agree NGK Tr6 are the way to go. The programer, filter and pulley should actually help improve fuel millage
