Contact Ford - Tell them how you feel about Cancellation of the Lightning
Lets make sure that this letter writing campiagn is mature and effective. Make sure the Faxes contain your reasons for being upset BUT use the kind of language you would use to talk to the President of the company you work for or your Father works for.
I for one am disappointed. Most of the automakers have their own performance brands/ marks
Audi has the S series
BMW has the M Series
Mercedes has the AMG series
Dodge has the SRT series
Chevy has the SS series
Ford has the Cobra ... - Not exactly a performance series....
While its competition builds their performance brand Ford is amputating SVT one limb at a time.
I have driven and purchased Fords exclusively since 1987. Driven Ford trucks since 1992. There is nothing else on the market that has the performance and grin factor of the lightning that I can afford and can fit into. I have been babying my 2000 for the past few years to make sure it would last till the Gen 3 comes out - Now I'm going to have to buy something else -
The used market is depressed due to the glut of cars available and the incentives delaers are offereing on the new ones. The demise of the Lightning series will not in my opinion have any significant impact on our resale values. They are after all based on the values of F150's which there are thousands of ...

Who among the U.S. population did not dream and desire to possess
every Ford performance vehicle ever built? I know of no one that
has not drooled at a Cobra, followed a Lightning for miles just to talk
to the owner, and in general envy the people that drive your performance
cars.
SVT proved supremacy with the GT. SVT proved cost effective
manufacturing with the GT. The design points of the Lightning have
kept it at the peak of the Performance Truck market almost since it's
inception. The Cobra is the epitome of performance straight from the
showroom floor.
Whom among us has not drooled at the GT, the Cobra, the Lightning,
the Bullit, the Mach 1, 1993, 1995 and 2000 Cobra "R"'s ... The list goes
on and on.
People have walked up to me at the local dealership after recognizing
my picture from the SVTOA article and have told me they changed their
mind about buying a Ford and changed to an SVT Ford based on what they
read about the enthusiastic support Ford has for these vehicles.
Now it's all in jeopardy, and the ball is in your hands, guys. Get 'er done!
Thousands (maybe millions!) of SVT Owners are with you!!!

I called SVT this morning and they advised me to e-mail or fax them our petitions. They are collecting them in a stack and are going to present them to upper management.
I told my story. It's not about SVT, it's about Ford sales period. I bought a Powerstroke Diesel and a Cobra just because of the influence that the Lightning had on me when they came out in '99.
