Gauge overlay help,Im stuck

OK this is real low end stuff but I dont want to break something. Im putting one of the aluminum gauge overlays on and I have the screws all out and the black moulding is almost out but its hung up on the left side where the headlight switch is.
Are you supposed to pry that out using that little hole center bottom or do I just need to put some *** into it and pull it out and that trim stays attached? I just dont want to get to agressive and bust something just to put a overlay on. Thanks. I will be waiting. Showing my interior skills here which is nada.
Russ.

You have to take the headlight switch out 1st. Take a screwdriver and a towel or something like that. Either wrap the screwdriver end with the towel or lay the towel under the tip of the screwdriver while you pry outwards in that little slit at the bottom of the headlight switch trim piece. It should pop out with some effort.

Thank you. That is what I was guessing but did not want to get all cranky and break something if I was missing something. I will make it happen.
Thanks again

ummm...The last time I checked, the headlight unit was locked in and you have to use a certain procedure to take it out. I dont believe you are suppose to pry on it, the *** yes but the headlight unit no

Well I was able to pry/slide it out and then just disconnect the wiring to the *****. There is a screw I has to remove as well in there to be able to remove the gauge trim.

Please post some pics and installation tips when you're done. I have been thinking about adding one, but was hoping someone else would be the guinea pig first.

When everyone does the "fog light mod" they take the whole headlight switch assembly out.. it's got a slot under it so you can get it out.

look here for pics: http://www.svtlightnings.com/svt/how...s/foglamps.htm

ahh...yes I see now, when did they change it, because my 98
F-150 you had to pull the *** off, rotate the *** 180degrees and the renstall it, and then trun the *** all the way to the right or something like this to realease the unit, it was locked in there.

Oh well now i know, thanks.

If you look inside the slot in the how how to fog light mod you can see a screw that is on the right in there. That has to come out to get the trim to come out to take off the glass, etc. Before I asked about popping the lights out the what was the only thing holding up progress with that screw in there.
Im glad I took the stuff apart so if/when we get some auto meter/simco gauge replacement it will be a bit faster. At least to that point.
