Just Want to Introduce Myself

Hi Everyone,

My name's Marc, I'm brand new to this forum and wanted to just say "hi".

I bought my 2002 F150 L SVT about a week ago and love it! Had to take my Contour Sport in for its 65k mile checkup (loved that car) and while I was waiting, I saw this dark blue Lightning sitting out on the Used Car Lot.

Asked if I could take her for a ride and I fell in love! The handling, the corner, the acceleration...I was in hog heaven! Some punk on a crotch rocket was revving his bike next to me at a redlight, and when it turned green, I hit the gas. Spun the wheels for a couple seconds but when the rear tires gripped the pavement, I almost caught up to the kid on the bike before I realized I was doing 70 in a 35 mph zone!

Went back to the dealership, traded in the '98 Contour for the '02 Lightning and have been having fun with it ever since!

I'm going to be reading through the past posts and seeing what I can do from the get go to get some more power out of her and then will take it from there.

I'm excited to see this forum and all the different members. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to get a picture of my new baby in here so I can show her off, even though everyone knows what an '02 Dk Blue Lightning looks like!

Marc

Welcome buddy, Have fun with your L. Your options are almost endless and once you start modding its hard to stop. You may start to get a bit "addicted" to it like a crack ho,but you wont have to worry about coming up hot on a urinalysis(if your place of employment does them).
Take care and see you around the board.

welcome from 48917 (lansing) formerly 48855 (howell)

You may want to check out MILOC (Michigan Lightning Owners Club)
www.miloc.org/forum

2 weeks ago the MILOC club rented Stanton and had a blast. IN the spring we are renting Milan.

Thanks!

Well, I did my FIRST mod today! I put in a K&N air filter that is guaranteed to boost the horsepower of the engine because of the less restricive air flow!

It would be like a human going from breathing through a straw to breathing through his nose! (no joke, that's what the packaging said!)

Thanks for the info on the different links and for the warm reception!

Marc

with the cold weather up here your lightning will be running very very strong!

However, expect next summer on the hot humid days to seem a little slower.

The vast majority of MILOC members are in the detroit area, so if you need a hand with anything drop us a thread!

welcome to the boards, and the lightning community.

hang around here long enough and your truck might just give that crotch rocket a run for his money one day.

I'm not fast enough yet, but I've got a buddy with an R1 1000cc Yamaha that refuses to race me. although he runs 10.70s he knows I'm close enough that if he were to make a mistake that he could be toast. plus I 60ft better than him, so he doesn't want everyone to see a pickup truck pull away from him on the starting line.

welcome and have fun.

later,
chris

Welcome Mark - It's always good to see another True Blue 02

It makes it SO much easier to visualize mods and looking at pictures goes over better than "could somebody photochop XXXXX for me?"

Good Luck with the truck - I know you'll love it.

Be careful through these beasts are more addictive than heroine!
