HELP!! Stock tranny shifts hard into 2nd and 3rd

Hey guys!

I took my truck out this morning to run an errand and I noticed it was shifting really hard and abruptly into 2nd and 3rd gears. Shifting to 4th was pretty smooth. The only mods I have are a K&N panel filter and a custom tuned Predator from RWTD. I drove the truck all day yesterday and it shifted smoothly, just like stock. I just finished throwing in the back up factory tune from my Predator, drove it around a bit, and it shifted a little smoother, but not like it did yesterday. Anyone have any experience with this?? Thank god the truck has 30k on it, I may have to take it in on Monday. Thanks for the help in advance!!!!!

I
m guessing that you have the line pressure and the 1-2 torque reduction on the tranny turned off on your predator tune.

I-Menace,
I just got back from test driving the truck and all seems better, and the blame is all on me. Yesterday, I re-installed the cold air tube for my home made cold air intake. I had to take the whole air box out of the truck to do it and I unplugged the mass air and the idle air control and forgot to plug them back in. Then I took the truck out to run an errand and that's when I noticed the tranny shifting really hard. So, I re-installed the stock program last night and this morning I went to start the truck and the Service Engine Soon light was on, that's when I remembered I didn't plug the MAF back up. After that, I used the Predator to search for trouble codes and I cleared them. Now the light is off and the truck shifts like it came from the factory. I don't understand how that would make the tranny shift real hard though? Any ideas???

the MAF sensor measures the air going into the engine. Also sending a signal to the PCM to tell the tranny to shift.

when your MAF goes bad or is dirty your truck runs like garbage, and the shifts are ALL SCREWED UP.

(without going into technical detail) the MAF helps tell the computer when to shift

One of the things the PCM will do is if it detects a trouble code that effects the transmission it defaults the line pressure to max.

Guys,
Thanks for all the responses! Hopefully I won't forget to plug those things back up!
