I like new stuff too but look back to some of the past mods. I know this isn't in the same category as the Plasma Booster or boost bypass, maybe more inline with the ported eaton. I'm not saying the blower is junk, it probably will be better than the KB, Magnum, Eaton, Works. But nobody knows anything until they are run for awhile and properly tuned. How long do they last?
I agree 100%. I dont question whether or not the whipple design will work-its not a completely new set-up. As some have stated the design has been around for years. There are just so many variables outside of the actual blower design itself that can impact outcomes. The KB style had been around for years too, but there have many issues with that blower. It would be nice for some info to be released on LIGHTNING applications before this particular setup is released. Thats just alot of coin.

Here is the difference -- the case. The KB, while based on a mature rotor design, used a one-off case for the Lightning.

The Whipple, AFAIK, will just be an off-the-shelf, fully assembled 2.3 (or 3.3) with an adapter on the bottom for the intake plenum and a custom inlet bolted on the rear. The blower itself will be the same as a zillion others. Kinda like a new kit based on an Eaton -- minimal risk from a proven core design.

I would only get a turbo if I can get a really cool blow off valve to go with it

I wonder about hood clearance. How much larger are the blowers and how much height does the adaptor plate add? I suppose that if it is a side draft intake then that would alleviate some height issues. But what about the clearance from the blower pulley to the hood? I never really looked to see how much clearance there actually is on the Eaton so maybe it is not an issue. Would you need a cowl hood?

Dustin Whipple told me both the 2.3 and the 3.3 model fit without hood or firewall mods.
