lower intake

ok while i have the blower out of the truck i was going to clean the intercooler and lower intake of all the oil
well the intercooler came out just fine but i have a couple of questions about pulling the intake
i was just going to leave the fuel rails in place, is this ok?
my biggest thing is the hard tube comming out of the intake on the passenger side rear, what is it? is it coolant or is it for the a/c
any help would be great
this tube is right next to the last plug on the passenger side
and if it is just coolant how the hell do i get it out!
thanks in advance guys

Don't take the lower intake off

you allready have the intercooler out, just clean it.

If you remove the lower intake you will need new gaskets

are you talking about a black metal tube? it's for coolant, it goes from the back of your water pump to your heater core. it is bolted onto your pass side cylinder head. you don't need to remove it to take the intake out though. if it's a silver tube, it comes from your intake to your heater core, it's part of your intake and can't be removed. just pull the hose off of the end.

I'll see if I can find a picture.

as you can see there are quite a few lines back there, which one are you talking about?

good luck.

chris

yes it's my motor, apten had it stripped and preliminary sanded (beginning stages of the full exterior polish job that they offer) and then I had it painted locally by some guys who used to work at Ford with me. the same local guys also sanded the ridges off of the valve covers and sprayed them for me.

that may be a pic of my first motor which blew up, but the replacement JDM one looks identical:

from that pic it looks like its the coolant tube (ah crap)
i was gona pull the lower to give it a good cleaning and smooth/ polish it up but maybe i wont cause the truck is outside right now and that looks to be a little bit of a bitc.h
