Detonation / Tuning experts HELP!!

Well like it says tonight I took a buddy out for a little cruise in the L and air temps were 49*-50*. As soon as I hit 2nd gear the was the good ol sounds out detonation.
I figured I had my timing up @ 18* so I took out Max timing -10% and took it out again only to find out Its still detonating!! I had my buddy watch the timing and it still showed 18* @ WOT??
Baffeld as I was I added 10% fuel and it took away 90% of the knock untill 3rd gear were I still could here it.
Keep in mind I had the L DYNO tuned @ JLP with a predator as the middle man to transfer/store his cutom tune. I was told timing was set @ 16* and I could go +/- 10% for weather conditions or track use. I had the timing up 8% witch showed 18* and I was running it this way all the time. The weather has been 65-70* on average anytime I've been into it.
Could it be that my timing some how locked @ 18*?? I seems not to change no matter what I do as far as adjusting it.
Could it be the computer adding the timing due to the cool weather ( low IAT temps ).
I dont know what else to say..Please help if you can.

Think about this, at WOT is when your truck demands maz fuel. If your filter is getting clogged that will have a direct effect on detenation. Also a lose or cracked vacume line will do the same. Just my .02

Fuel filter was changed less then 500 miles ago. And then there is the issue as to why I cant adjust my timing at all!!
My moda are a 4# lower, JLP Dyno tuned w/ pred, Denso 22s @ 36 and JLP air box. Truck has 10,000 miles on it and it did not start untill a temps droped to 55* or lower.

the change in ambiant temp will have a direct effect. Also all it takes is a tank of bad gas to slow down a fuel filter. Many guys complain about winter gas here in Michigan trashing fuel filters. I change mine every other oil change.

I don't know any thing about the Preditors But I do know that I ran a JLP chip for 2 years with no issues year round.

Hope this helps,

Suavy

You need to get a tune for the colder weather. As you see when you added fuel the detenation was decreased. The cooler the air is the more dense it gets, so your putting more air into the cylinders. More air with out more fuel equls a higher air to fuel ration and then detenation. Get it back on the dyno for a re-tune and you will be good to go.

Since I was below 1/4 on gas I filled up with 93 Sunoco instead of 93 Amoco and Reset all paremiters back default. Then I added 10% fuel and removed 10% timing.
Problem seems to be gone but while loging the L it still shows 18* of timing???? So weather I add 10% or remove 10% or leave it in the middle it still shows 18* of timing...HELP!!!!!! I dont feel comfortable with 18* in 44* air temps.

unless your MAF is maxed out, your stock tune should compensate for big changes in temperature.

Perhaps your baro sensor is bad.
perhaps your MAF sensor needs to be cleaned.

Is your truck shifting funny?

My truck has allways shifted weird. Its seems like every L I've driven has tranny that cant make up its mind.
10,000 mile on the truck do you think those could be going bad?
What are the paramiters the MAF should be reading @ cruise/WOT?
The baro should be what ?..95-104 depending on the actual barometer?

After you adjusted the timing in the predator, did you re-install the custom tune again? If you don't go through the install procedure for the custom tune after you change the timing, it won't get updated, and your timing will remain the same.
