Exhaust WELD or U BOLT vote

OK I have read past post(putting search button to use) and read about U bolt and welds on new exhaust and I want to put democracy to good use so I can give my mechanic the final word in the morning. I am aware that welding voids warrenty and not a factor to me in this pole I also learned that I should keep the stock hangers because the Bassani Dogbones suck(that is nice to know).

So all I want to know my L brothers short and sweet is

"Weld or U-bolts"

The votes will be tallied in the morning and the majority wins.

Nice to have you all involved in the voting process here during this election year.

Place your votes now.

use clamps but put 2 welds or so on each pipe to hold it in place so it won't slide back !

ABN, I just installed my Magnaflow 2 weeks ago and asked the same question. I used all the clamps and they felt secure, but taking the advice of others (not planning on doing hi flows or headers in the near future), I took it into a muffler shop and they put a nice bead around where the catback connected to the factory y pipe just to play it safe. Guy only charged me $10 to do so. A little bit of insurance against an exhaust leak.

ups and downs

the problem with clamps is they create a big *** groove in the pipes which makes it impossible to off, and back on again if you have to take it off. You have to heat the **** out of them with the blue tip wrench.

The problem with welding is you have to grind the welds to get them off. Alot more of a p.i.t.a, but WAY more durable and less hedaches!!!

One of the first things on the instructions said welding will void the warrenty. I really give a rats *** and had him weld the mids/Xpipe and Xpipe/mufflers. He left the other type of clamps that connect the back of the mufflers to the tail pipes on. I guess thats cool? I just want my truck back tonigt before I head to Raleigh tomorrow morning. They have had it since last Wed.

Yeah I opted for the welding method. I got a whole new exhaust system and dont plan on removing it anytime in the future.

Its all good man. I have blonde moments also sometimes. Well got the ride back. Sits much lower I feel like I am in low rider mode. The exhaust system ROCKS! Makes the stock sounds like a little fart. I was grining ear to ear. I need to get my front end aligned after the tune though. I am going to ask Randy if there is a good shop nearby so I wont have to drive home with the steering wheel all goofy. I will fill you in after my adventures tomorrow.
Russ.
