Powdercoating Revisited
Powdercoating Revisited
I've searched both here and svtperformance and still haven't found what I'm looking for so....
For those who have powder coated their rims and left a polished lip; how much of the lip is polished. Is it just the outer face of the lip (what you would see if you were looking directly at the wheel) or does the polishing go around the whole lip and meet the main face of the rim?
Also were the powder coaters able to do this by masking it off before spraying or was it all done after the fact?
Any pics are appriciated.
Thanks
Jack

the wheels I have are powdercoated, then they got put on a lathe/turned and the powercoat was removed on the lip/rim. No clearcoat so if it rains, you gotta shine up that small section. (no biggie)
It's a machined finish, if you were to look close you could see fine lines/grooves.

my powder coating wraps up and just the face of the rim is left polished... They were dirty in the below picture, so it doesn't stand out like usual but you get the idea... If you leave the rim polished, make sure you get chrome lug nuts...
place that did them specializes in OEM wheel repair. I told them make mine look like '93 Cobra R, '96 Vette GS & '02 Collectors Ed. T/A stock wheels
not the best picture, but only one I have thats close up-
