Those with QA-1's

What do you set the rear shocks to at the drag strip?

it depends on your combination. stock rear springs, aftermarket springs, what tires are running, slicks? what size, F1s?

it also depends on track conditions, if the track is hooking you can crank them up a little higher, if the track sucks, I turn them softer to absorb a little bit of the initial "hit".

with my F1s I used to run them at setting "4" at the track most of the time.

note, I count the farthest counter clockwise position as "ZERO". some people count this as "1".

now with my 28" slicks, I turn them up a little higher to around 6.

if you are running a 30 inch tire, you might turn them up even higher.

if traction is there, then you don't want the shock and the rear suspension wasting energy squatting down on a launch.

if the traction is not there, then the shocks can help "absorb" some of that initial launch hit that can break the tires loose.

(I should note, that I am no chassis or suspension expert, so the above is just my opinion based on my experiences at the track)

good luck.

later,
chris

Highlander, do you have any good pictures of that hood from different angles... It looks like the AAD Cobra hood and I am thinking of buying it... I have a silver and would like to see what it looks like....

QA1 settings

I set mine at position 7 and I'm using 30 in Hoosiers, 58 in Rancho T-bars. This has got me down to 1.52 60 ft.

Chris,

All the way CCW is the softest setting and each click CW makes them stiffer. I just put mine on last Sat. and all the way CCW was easy as hell to pull out and push in. Five clicke to CW and I could hardly move them.
