Question Reaction to this Traction..............

contraption. Just installed this traction..???(don't know the name) on the L. Just want to know if anyone knows who made this, who has it installed and what do you think about it? I bought it from a friend and it's installed directly over the rear axle to prevent axle warp and broken drive-shaft. I think he said he bought it from Troyer but couldn't find it on their website.

A pinion snubber is just another means of controlling axle wrap. It is positioned just above the snout of the pumpkin. When the pumpkin tries to rotate upwards under acceleration, the snubber stops it.

I think that they are not more popular because a snubber needs to be lowered at the track and raised back up for daily driving. Otherwise, normal suspension movement may be interfered with.

Also, the leafs can still be subjected to some fairly severe forces.

BTW it was made for the L, it fits exactly on the two cross beams in perfect position directly over the axle and it's adjustable, should be around two inches from axle. Weighs less than regular traction bars.

Although I'm stock I'm still spinning my tires for a good 4 seconds, but all I'm really concerned about is saving my driveshaft.

Traction bars won't stop tire spin but they will stop wheelhop, and in my case made the truck more stable and controllable in a hard launch on street tires.

wheelhop breaks parts and makes you alot more likely to get unstable.

Bert, I'm in gainesville now until the holidays.

Looks like Miami won't get the full brunt of it (Jeanne) and hope you will be ok up there, good luck!
