There was a company called Eternity Wheel here in San Antonio that used to do aluminum wheel repair and widening. I don't know if they are still around or what range the price would be it.

I buddy of mine with a 93 Cobra shaved an inch off his rear rim at the bead lip after a wicked 347 + Vortech insired spinout on a local sideroad. Eternity fixed it and straightened a second bent rim with good quality results.

They worked with Discount Tire, so, if you have them in Jersey, you might check with Discount Tire.

FWIW - the widened rims I've seen seem to work best when you combine two wheels into one rather than split one and insert a band - one weld vs. two. I've also heard of porosity issues with the welds, so it would be worth a chemical liner.

Done with my $0.02...

Herb

I've also inquired about this several times over the last few years.

The problem is finding a tire that is not only wider, but very close to the same overall diameter.

The posted thread says 335s. Ok, well 335/??-18. What's the aspect ratio?

This is very important. I don't want to run around with a 26" tall tire front and rear on the L. That would ride like crap, not to mention significantly increase rear gearing...which for a street tire is just going to add to wheelspin.

If someone can find me a 335mm wide tire that is 28" tall, I'd buy some 11" wide rear wheels tomorrow.

So that will be the issue, Jim. You, and your buddy, may find a tire that _wide_, but it will be too short compared to stock.

Let us know how it ends up.

Chikin,

Its a stock 2000 with 889 original miles on it . Bone stock and slow as a dog but soon to be in high 11 sec trim

By the way glad to hear the nitrous is working great for you. How is the "Alabama Slamma" anything giving you trouble in the 1/8th or did the Nitrous fix that.

Michelin Pilot Sport comes in a 345/35/18. The ovarall diameter of that tire is 27.5" and the smallest rim width that is recommanded is 11.5" which would be 2" wider than stock. Price is just under $400.00 each from the Tire Rack.

There are wheel repair companies that advertise in the back of Car & Driver & Motor Trend magazines that will widen your stock rims. One of them is in Michigan I just don't remember the name

I found the Pilot Sports. Those would work, but the problem is finding a front tire to match.

M/T ET Street Radial
Part # 3788R†
Size P345/35R18
Size Equiv. 28 X 13.50R18

it is a drag radial, so i wouldn't put it on a DD if you drive a lot, but it should stick well
