Performance tune ok w/mods until tune?
Performance tune ok w/mods until tune?
Hay guys,
I have looked at some different threads and combined info but wanted inport for safety sake. I installed my TR6 plugs,4# pulley, and AF1 open air intake. I am working on getting a appointment for getting a custom Pred tune but if it is a week or two and I want to drive around a bit will I be OK as is or should I go with my shelf "performence tune" NOT the pulley tune since it seems to aggressive. I have read the performance is closer to what you would want with a 4# and extra incoming air rather then the actual pulley tune on previous threads I had read that with the mild mods like I have the performance tune is OK to go with until it gets to the tuner/dyno.
Would you all agree or should I just take it easy until I can get my tune done?
I would love to play with my ride a bit this week but I want to be smart and not get carried away until it gets tweaked. As always thanks for the input.

Put the pulley tune in, and retard the timing, and add fuel. BTW read manuel on adding fuel, I believe you go to the left (-), not the right (+), which is what you would think, but read an make sure first. Or you could just leave the stock tune in.
thanks for the info
thanks for the tips. Man getting that stock airbox outta there and getting the open filter in sure seems like it freed up alot of room. The chrome intake tube and TB is kind of blingy. I like it. The new plugs well whatever and the 4# pulley is nice to see rather then the big ol' stock one.
I will have to read my Pred manual to see how bold I want to be but I wont really go ,more then out of town with it until I get to the tuner which is soon I hope so any long burst of WOT is pretty much out the window. Well we are finally off and running...yehaaa!
Be cool guys,peace.

Use the predators PULLEY TUNE, pull out 10% timing, and add 10% fuel. If you have a wideband it makes it easy to watch the A/F, and if you hear ANY detonation, get out of it.
I did the same thing with an Apten, 4lb lower, and a 2.8" upper and my A/F was a good 11-11.5. I think my truck ran better with the Predator pulley tune than with my custom tune.

Have you heard of or been to Haywood Custom Speed Shop near Raleigh? A couple friends recommended that i go there and that they do a really good job on the tunes and are certified for revolution/chipmaster?
Thanks

BTW I went out and installed the Pulley Tune then went to the Parameters and added 10% fuel which actually was all the way to the left. Then retarded(thats funny)the full by 10% that was all the way to the left as well. So that is what we were shooting for right? I took it around the neighbor hood(big whoop huh) to let everything adjust. So is there a hypothetical range that what my timing and A/F should be at for now with what I have adjusting the pully parameters a we bit? Just curious.
I will keep you posted when I roll to the shop.
Later dude.
Russ.
I showed a 11 something a/f and 16 degrees timing. You'll see alot of performance over stock but wait until you get it to the tuner!! You'll be very happy!
Make sure you have dry roads while testing!

I will really be geeked up when I get the new Bassani system installed nex month. Heck I have not even listened to the radio since I have gotten the truck just the engine whine and the exhaust and that was just stock. Man I know why everyone can easily fall in love with the Ls. I can so i am not in a big rush for a audio upgrade for a while. Just want to spend time hearing her at song.
