Question I sent supercharger to Apten today

I sent supercharger to Apten today, and was thinking about getting my compputer reflashed. I don't want any warranty issues with a chip and thought that this may be a good alternative. I'm looking for suggestion for who to have it done.

I currently have: Airaid intake, C&L tube, SBTB, Eclectic Fan, Inner Chiller, TR6's, 4LB Pulley, FTVB, high flow cat's, MAC cat back and soon to have Apten ported supercharger. Is it possible to run safe with these mods and just reflash my computer? The truck is a dally driver, but I only put about 5,000 to 7,000 mile a year on it, 2002 with 11,000 on the O.D. I only go to the track about 1 or 2 times a year.

Any help I get would be greatly appreciated!

NOyou'll need to datalog it to find out of course.. with that set up including the increased CFM's with the port you might also be peaking the stock factory MAF......

If you dont have the SCT from superchips get one and they can tune your set up......plug and play... who reflashed your current set up and what was your A/F @ 5000 rpm?

If you are wanting to protect your warranty then don't do the Apten (unless you have a spare S/C to install before service). Ford tried to void my warranty for headders! They told me if I had the headders on the next time the truck came in for service they were going to void my warranty on the spot! Isn't that some *****. Just be carefull.

1) Standard charge is $599, but I believe there is a special going on for $399 or so.

2) The port job should not affect the MAF as the blower is just becoming more efficient. I don't think any more air is being pulled through the MAF?

3) Any warranty issues would result in Ford having to pull the blower off and seeing the port job as the mod is not external to see with the naked eye.

The "sale" is going through the end of Sept for $399.00. I like the fact that you can't tell that anything has been done to the blower unless you remove it, and even then not every one would know.

My computer hasn't been reflashed yet. I talked to a tech from Apten and he recommended getting a dyno tuned SCT reflash.

@ what point do you max out your stock MAF?

you might be OK with the stock MAF at your power or you might not...some tuners tune around a saturated MAF...

450 RWHP or so on an accurate dyno is average..
with a port and a 4-6 PSI pulley & other bolt-ons, you can peak the stock MAF pretty quick once your in third... some trucks dont peak until 485RWHP...another truck will peak it by say, 440 RWHP on the same day & dyno. get the Pro-M 95mm MAF to make sure your computer accounts for the extra CFM from your new port..stock injectors will be ok, tell your tuner about your new MAF if you choose to upgrade.. and install the Reflashed SCT tune, then check at a dyno ...or dyno tuned SCT reflash

silverSVTruck, I have a 4lb pulley also and I am thinking about taking advantage of the Apten special...... If I do port my blower I will upgrade my MAF buy the SCT and have
http://www.troyerperformance.com/
tune the combination, Mike has done many,......then go to my local dyno for quick datalog after the custom tune is installed to confirm MAF voltage & A/F's

Hey guys - stock engine + Apten + 4lb pulley you are not going to max your MAF. Do not waste your money upgrading your MAF. Even 6lb + Apten you will be fine.

many trucks do not peak the MAF at these H.P. levels ........but, more efficient as you put it ,means more air through the MAF.

I've decided to drive down to REM and get DYNO reflash, they are only an hour away. They don't sell the SCT only the Predator, is the SCT supposed to be better?

I think the SCT 9100 is not "better". It holds more tunes which is nice. The software on the tuners end is better I hear. The end result - the tune - is a wash. A good tuner can do the same thing with either device..

The Predator can datalog, which I like considering it is the same price. I didn't have a choice when I bought the Predator since the SCT 9100 was not out yet, but if I had to do it again I would still buy the Predator.

I would prefer to get the SCT 9100, but I don't know where around here that I can get it with a DYNO tune. From what I hear, REM is very capable of giving me a good safe DYNO tune with the Predator.
