anyone changed rear axle seal

My right real axle seal is leaking. noticed when I was going to put new rotors and pads on the rear before lightning fest.

Has anyone ever done this??

I hate to take it to dealer.

Thanks

I've done it once or twice...

it's not too bad at all... you can do it at home with basic tools.

you will however need to pull off the rear differential cover and drain/refill the gear oil in order to get to the pinion and the c-clip that retains the alxe shaft, so it can be a bit messy.

good luck.

later,
chris

Not too worried about the mess. I just replaced to front rotors and was doing the rears when I noticed the leak.

No autopart stores carry the seals. I have to go to Ford I guess.

Jaytoday,

Wow never seen you before. That parking lot is behind Walgreens on N 2nd.
